Was this movie originally supposed to be cast with an overweight actress? I didn't understand why the other kids tortured Marni with this name. Even though they are her initials, shouting "Moo" at a girl implies that she is a "fat cow" (I got that one a lot in HS...).

It was her initials...hence the grandma telling Marnie's mom that Olivia was a bad middle name.

Correct. Her name was Marnie Olivia Olsen
