Bullying affects adults long after it ends
For those of you who want to know why people just don't "get over" what happens to them in high school, should read the research

and understand that bullying can create psychological issues for a long time, it is psychological abuse. It is not something that one "sucks up" and gets over. I thought that the portrayal of the bullying and Marni's reaction to it was very accurate. And the fact that once again she was played by this woman and made to feel the guilty party was classic abuse. The bully didn't change at all, she was playing the victim and everyone blamed Marni. I actually was very surprised that the parents took this bullying so laisse fair, but that also happens in real life. That is the reason why bullying needs to be dealt with by parents and by the school, the person being bullied isn't able to deal with it on their own.

So actually I didn't find much to laugh about in this movie. It was painful to watch.
