Could Joanna had been bipolar?

Otherwise, I have never heard of a normal, sane person going from hating you all the way towards being suddenly nice and apologetic (the pathetic fridge scene and everything else afterward sucked)only 1 day after going crazy on you with throwing you plates (that is already a serious assault) and then that laugh after throwing the guacamole bowl on her.

The only people I can think about that can change from one extreme mood to another so fast is bipolar individuals. If I had a brother and his fiancee started throwing plates at me, I would think she's a total nutcase and file assault charges against her.

I didn't buy that remorseful refrigerator scene at all. If she wanted to redeem her life and be such a wonderful person, you don't buy a necklace to insult the groom's sister with a taunting nickname. I don't care if they really were her initials; the bride knew jolly well the hurt that would result.

Yeah, Joanna is a phony. The directors focus too much on Disney, unrealistic happy endings. In real life, the wedding would definitely be cancelled, Will would go single and take a while to recover from all that whole fiasco and Joanna would be kicked out of the house for being crazy (probably spend time in a mental facility or seeking another sucker to live off his money).

If someone was suddenly nice to me after going that crazy and hating me for so long, I would be freaked out and immediately think they have serious mental issues.

At fast I would have thought that Joanna was crazy but I would say that she was a flawed person who had her own insecurities to deal with.

I think calling her bipolar is just letting her off the hook and therefore she doesn't have to take responsibility for her own behaviour.

I worked with a woman who was bipolar and she was very ill. She did say strange stuff sometimes but people knew she had health problems and she was nowhere as bad as Joanna.

I think Joanna just slipped back into her old bad ways. If she met someone new and they didn't know what she was like before (in High School) then she would probably be nice to them. But when Marni showed up she reverted to being a bitch. Why didn't she just pretend she didn't remember Marni instead of all the passive aggressive bitching? I think she thought Marni could discredit her so instead of dealing with it like an adult she tried to bully poor Marni all over again.

If a person is really ill with something like bipolar disorder I think they could be too ill to be very clever in a crafty, nasty sort of way Joanna was. I don't think they could control their impulses which Joanna could do at least in front of other people.
