I was shocked to see this on YouTube

A new series, being shown on YouTube. Is this all they think of it? I watched about half of episode one. It was awful. His son is now a firefighter? His brother's son has to be a stereotyped awkward nerd? His precious Charlotte is dismissed, when she was his big thing at the end of the first series. I guess to show he can't ever pick one mate and stick with her. But the dialogue is the worst part. Over and over about his father's funeral. They didn't need to belabour the point and make it so gloomy. The young adult actors are not charming. It's just such a disappointment.

I love Frasier and have rewatched it over and over. It's still one of the best shows ever made. Characters, plots, dialogue. This is not worthy...should have been ditched after the pilot.

It was a terrible pilot.

The writers here seem to be writing a Grandparents show.

Something they call watch.

And Frasier's I'm smarter than you dialogue is wayyyy over the top!

reply

Why do they call it watch? What does that mean?

reply

I'm guessing that phrase was supposed to be, "Something they can all watch," and the "can" and "all" just got mashed together.

reply

Wouldn't the generations of people who loved watching Frasier and Cheers be the target audience, though? There's a wide age range there, but it's possible that the show was made with a different target audience in mind than the 18-24 demographic that most media seem to be aimed at.

From the two episodes I saw, I'd like to see a lot more of David and way less Frederick. Makes me wonder, if this is the actor that got the role of Frederick, how bad was everybody else?

reply

Disagree. It's a bold statement. There have been some negative reviews from critics. The network, however, has confidence in it nonetheless so they are saying Let the people decide.

Really I found it better than expected.
