He turned down a full scholarship to a Division 1 College to go to a Community College. He still could do poetry at Drexel, just a really stupid decision and he will regret it when he’s older

Some of the best professors I had were at junior college (called "community college" today). Most four-year schools are overrated.

Doesn’t matter, it was a fully paid scholarship to a Division 1 school.

I sort of agree with that, but as a character, Sticks, with a very weak ego and in such a vulnerable state, I think it was understandable that he would want to stay close to home known world and family.

I watched this movie but really did not like it that much for reasons I explain in another comment.
