How was J still a MIB agent?

K was the one who found and recruited him while at first z wasn't sure. but with k being erased how was J still an agent?

reply

J is apparently living on an anomalous time-stream, he remembers K recruiting him and K being a modern presence until the night before. Possibly time-travel event changes have a way of limiting their extent, and filling in with new details that put current things in harmony with the cause-and-effect chain.

J's knowledge of time-travel, and his remembering of his past with K, may serve as a sufficient cause-and-effect fill in for the changes. Everyone else needs a new past that includes the changed event, and other results that stem from that. J does not, time travel as a reality of his world serves seamlessly enough as the fill in.

so what your saying is because j remembers everything, the timeline somehow readjusts to fit that in so that everyone else knows he's an agent and he somehow got signed on a different way?

reply

There would be a different way for them, for J getting signed on, yes, but not for J. He remembers being signed on and time traveling and changing things, maybe because he made the time jump, K did not, nor anyone else, except Boris, but he's dead.

Everyone else just goes along with the history change, they are passive to it all. J is active, he changed it, by time-jumping.

Right i think i get that. Thanks

I think we're led to believe either way J was destined to become an MIB agent since the altered timeline still has him as an agent just without K recruiting him. He must have become an agent a different way.

As for why he is the only one who remembers K, it is because he was there at the point the timeline changed.

reply

...he was there at the point the timeline changed.

That is in agreement with Jeffrey Price's statement, referring to J's remembering K, "That means you were there".

yep. J didn't remember but that's because K neuralized him.

It's probably not intentional but IMO it makes the exchange during the first film even funnier;

"K have you ever flashy thinged me?"
"no"
"K I aint messin around, you ever flashied me?"
"no"

obviously now we know he had!

reply

Makes you wonder if K recognized J as the kid whose father saved his life when he recruited him a couple decades later.

reply

I'm assuming K kept an eye on him throughout the years until he recruited him in the first film.

reply

umm......he also flashed him in the first movie.

reply

I think in the timeline where K is dead, J's father is alive and he becomes an MIB agent and that's how J is still able to be an agent. So in the new timeline J is recruited by his father instead of K.
