Thank god they fixed Kahn

I've always thought Montalban's over the top performance was appropriate for the character's state of mind in the movie. In Space Seed, the episode in TOS where we first meet Khan, his performance is more cool and calculating, but in WOK we're seeing a Khan who's been pretty much driven insane by his thirst for revenge against Kirk for leaving him exiled on a hell-hole of a planet for 15 years. His actions defy logic as he confronts Kirk time after time, despite his 1st officer's pleas to forget Kirk and simply sail off into the sunset on Reliant. His first confrontation with the Enterprise is totally dependent on Kirk not following regulations and raising shields- clearly not the strategy of a rational mind! So to me, his performance is spot on for Khan's mental state in the movie.

I thought Cumberbatch gave a great performance in Into Darkness, but he just wasn't Khan to me. If they had made him Gary Mitchell, which apparently was a consideration at one pont, I think it would've been epic. But that's just like my opinion, man!
