Capt Pike

Spoilers be here...

How could Pike die? He had to be alive for the original series' later Menagerie and Cage episodes. He looked pretty crispy in those shows, but 'only' looked injured in this movie.

Also, why did Peter Weller's character have it in for Kirk and the Enterprise? Didn't seem too concerned about wiping out the whole crew. Odd.

Good movie, but Kahn couldve looked a little more exotic.

With Pike it is simple. History had already been altered and was unfolding differently. The events of the managerie and cage never happen.

With the Admiral (Weller) I do have a problem with an Admiral going rogue to this extent.
He would have to be crazy

I was born in the house my father built

Just another example of JarJar Abrahms crapping all over anything logical... spend the better part of a decade becoming Captain, not here you can right out of the academy

I'm not a huge Star Trek fan but given the money/budget this is relatively the worst Trek film.

Why lie about Khan? Chris Nolan didn't lie about The Joker in Batman.

Also it was just a bit too convenient that Adm. Pike died just so Kirk could get the ship....they don't have ANY other captains in starfleet?

Adm. Marcus was one-dimensional ... may as well call him Adm Evil.

When I saw Pike get burned I actually thought, "oh good they are going to do an expanded version of Menagerie/ the Cage. Imagine my disappointment when I realized it was just a twisted remake of Wrath of Kahn.

It can happen though. Some people in the real world would say Putin has gone rogue in Russia..

reply

Okay folks, for the 850th time, this is the KELVIN timeline! Of COURSE things will be different than in the original Star Trek timeline.

They like you very much, but they are not the hell your whales.

it's a shame he was killed off; the actor playing that part was a real asset to the franchise. he plays his scenes well and had good chemistry with chris pine.

Indeed, Pike and Bones are the only 2 bright spots in the JJverse
