I'm positive it's a callback to season 1 when he read Caroline's Twilight series during the time he had enslaved her and was raping her on the regular. It's the last season so they're going to be doing a lot of nods to season 1.

I'm sure Ian is excited to get to play Evil Damon again. After so many seasons of the character becoming a woobified/wishy-washy Angel/Spike-wannabe, it was fun to see a glimpse of what made the character so delightful. I hope this Damon sticks around for most of the season before he reverts to the inevitable Manpain Diaries.

I really thought you were messing with us. This preview looks pretty good, but I am a little sick of the whole "One of the gang goes bad we need to save them." trope, but we will see.

well those books star a creepy, obsessive romantic 'hero' so i imagine he could see himself in them...

and since the only sex position he seems to know is missionary, he's probably reading it for education purposes, too.

This promo was great, Stefan and Bonnie, Damon kicking Enzo was flat out hilarious, and Caroline being protective of the kids was cool to see.

I've got the feeling were in for a nice final season, at least a good premiere.

Btw, one again screw CW for not releasing the full trailer until a week before the season premiere. Absolutely ridiculous Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl get 3 full trailers but TVD gets 1.

This is funny in two ways:

1) This show seems to hold a fascination with FSOG references
2) Ian was in the media speculation for a while as being in the running for the part of Christian Grey.

I take this as a sign that the the show is and in this case Ian is being a bit of a sport and poking fun at themselves a bit. It doesn't make sense really (Character-wise) but it's just a bit of fun so I enjoy it for what it is.

It also seems to be a nod to S1 Damon reading Twilight in Caroline's bed. Since FSOG was originally a Twilight fanfic
