Matt being a cop

...in a ghost town?? I missed S7 when it aired so I'm catching up on Netflix. This whole ghost town storyline is one of the dumbest ones I've seen on TVD. Why the hell is Matt all decked out in his uniform and cruiser? Why is his radio on? Who the hell is he even talking to? LOL

I get that he's trying to make sure people don't wander in and get killed, but could he not do that in his normal clothes? Just seems like a lot of fanfare for nothing. I just hope they get the heretics under control soon because this ghost town crap is really unbelievable (and yes I realize this is a show that has brought more people back to life than TWD lol).

Agreed. I appreciate them trying to keep him human and having him be the moral compass of the show or whatever, but the least they could do is give him a love interest. I can't remember him dating anyone since Elena actually!!

I agree. However they do give him a love interest in season 7. But it seem to make the character more unlikable.

Matt gets a girlfriend who is a fellow policeman. He teaches her all about vampires. Then he introduced her to his vampires friends. She (her name is Pat) tells him (after meeting Stefan) to chose a side. Then he starts acting high and mighty and kick Stefan ,Damon, and Caroline out of Mystic Falls. The only vampires who WOULDN'T kill him on site. I don't like Pat because after Matt tells her that Stefan was his friend , that should have been the end of it. He shouldn't have to choose a side, especially considering that his vampires friends is the only reason he's alive. It gets worse. But I'm not going to spoil it for you.

I think their reasoning is, Matt can't compel, so being a cop gives him his authority to kick anyone out. Cause I mean, if you walked into town and some pretty boy tried to stop just cause, wouldn't you be like get tf out my face. Lol.

Well cops since Police Academy are not depicted as the smartest people on earth so Matt fits right in.
