"Caroline is just a surrogate"

For anyone saying it's creepy or weird that she still shares custody with Alaric because she was just a surrogate, please stop.

She was a surrogate... but she also raised them for 5 years. She is their mom now. Who grew to care for them and vowed to protect them. She loves them now. From the moment she began living with them she stopped being just a surrogate. She witnessed key moments in their childhood (first steps, first words...) and to them she is their mom. Comparable to an adoptive mom.
I know it's weird because she's with Stefan and she didn't plan for this. But for you to say that she's still just a surrogate is unfair.

She's not just going to leave them now.... because then THAT would definitely not make sense. smh

Yes, Caroline and Rick unromance was creepy! Didn't like that hot mess at all. He killled her Dad! What t hell? That was some seriously bad judgement for the writers.

We're all on our way out, act accordingly.

I forgot that he killed her dad. Yes the writers clearly did not think through.

I forgot he killed her dad too ... damn

Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And whatever you do, don't Blink. 🏦

reply

So did I! Did he? I just remember her dad got stabbed at the hospital.

reply

Yes he stabbed him at the hospital, he was under the influence of the Gilbert ring gone bad. Not in his right mind. Caroline's dad would have died then if Meredith Fell hadn't given him Damons blood. He died anyway because he chose not to drink human blood and become a vampire.
Caroline forgave him because she related Rick's murder spree to her own experience of killing someone when she was not in control.
Still think the relationship is out of character for both of them. Rick has always been a parental figure.. Thought the whole engagement was inappropriate and way off base for both story lines.

We're all on our way out, act accordingly.

#2 I can see having an issue with.

#1 Prejudice. Pure and simple prejudice against older\younger relationships. She may look 16 but she is not. I suppose Oriental women who are 30 but look 16 freak you out, too? Or someone in a relationship with one who is 10-15 years older or younger makes you sick? Remember teach: Pedophilia is lust for or sex with pre-teenage children. A 16 year old is physically an adult; in all but legal status they are not. Nonetheless the age of consent in most states IS 16. I guess that you are a teacher allows you to be prejudiced and hateful.

#3 Yep, dating best pals pseudo dad while best pal is DEAD is *beep* creepy.

You may be a teacher but truly I have to suggest you grow up.

I agree. She is their mother now. I have no issues with the Jo aspect at all, she is probably thrilled that her daughters have a mom in their life.

"Caroline is just a surrogate"
who told you this, who dared Utter this Slanderous lie. She has been laying her life on the line for these children literally since Utero, when they were literally sucking the life out of her, and protected them from their certifiably insane Uncle, and she tried to put that crazy woman with the knife through the wall. Knocked her out with extreme prejudice, no one comes for "dem babiez."

Some people may have a problem with the Rick and Caroline relationship, the only thing is, they are not in a relationship, they don't even sleep in the same bed, or the same room for that matter. (If I remember the time jump season correctly) Plus she's with Stephen, I believe Rick may want to give it a try, just to see if the family, could really be unit, but nothing has actually happened yet except for the occasional kiss for appearances.

I don't have a problem with Caroline being a mother figure to the girls, I think its great. What I have a problem with is that the writers are trying to replace Jo as the girls mother and are making it seem like she didn't matter.

Also the Caroline/Alaric ship was disturbing.

reply

I can understand that sentiment, but they can't replace someone they never knew. I'm pretty sure Alaric talks about Jo, and Caroline talks about Jo, after all they had to have asked why they had to hold on to a door and be a "key", which is a direct way to talking about Jo, but right now they're like 5, when they get older they will have more questions, and explore Jo more, but we probably won't see it, because you know, last season. Plus they're so young unless they start or its of some importance Jo would also bring up the applications of actual magic, and that magic is realy, and how they were born, and why their mom is dead, and maybe how she died, and that her entire side of family was magically murdered, it's a whole thing, that 5-6 year olds, aren't ready for.

They are only 3. (Born March 2014 and its 2017 in tvd)

And im not talking about the girls forgetting about their birth mother Jo. I mean how the writers of the show are pretending she didn't exist. All over it's "Caroline's kids" "Caroline is their mother" "Caroline is the mother" "They're her kids" and nothing on the fact that they are actually Jo's kids biologically. Its like people assume Jo was just an egg donor. (Again, i am referring to off show, not the characters, I know they didn't forget).
