Remember when the Travelers came to town. and they put up a spell that reversed all Spirit Magic? Isn't the spell that Kai did spirit magic? What if they end up being able to reproduce that spell and then it would take away the curse on Bonnie and Elena.
Thats the only other non-loopholey thing I can think of.
The travellers's magic was different. In order for them to get rid of witch magic they had to kill off all the doppelganger of Silas,and Amera until only two vampires doppelganger remains. That took years to do. So it wasn't like they could do that again. As for Kai, he was a heretic. He never had any magic of his own. So the only way he could obtain magic powers were to siphon magic from someone/or something magical. No one can reproduce the Travellers magic. However Caroline's daughters can siphon magic from magical being. So they could do like Kai. That was how they were able to open the door. So I suppose Caroline's daughters are a direct threat to the siren since someone sent a person to kill Caroline's daughters. (At least I think that was the plan, but we don't know)
