Caroline indicates in season 7 that she tried to reach out to Klaus but that he was no where to be found. This was like mid-early season. So I'm wondering, is this because Klaus was imprisoned at the time by Marcel? How exactly do the timelines match up? Episode 14 "Moonlight on the Bayou" is when we hear/see Klaus. But after that in the Originals can we assume he disappears because of what transpired between him and Marcel?

Yeah Klaus was imprisoned by the end of season 3 (present time). By the time Caroline visited NOLA, three years from present time line, he was still prisoned - three years by then. Two more to go since we are getting five years time jump in TO. TVD and TO will not be on same time line, maybe at the end of season 8, TVD will get another time jump but that will kill the purpose of having two different time jumps in the first place. They could have given TO same time jump i.e. three years but apparently they are not giving them that.
TVD right now is three years in future where Mikaelson are in sleep mode or in prison.

By the time TO returns season 4 and does it's 5 year time jump, tvd will be over.
shareTVD is having 16 episodes, right? Since we dont know when TO is coming back, January or some time in future we cannot say anything for sure. They must have shot the last episode by then, same with TO but that does not mean that they have not done the time jump or incorporated some TVD characters to TO.
They might not do the time jump at the end of TVD and just bring some TVD characters to TO later in TO.

shareThey separated the timeline for a reason. Why would they bring them to the same time line again? If they meant to bring them to same timeline then why didnt they give The Originals three year time jump instead of five? But then again that could be because five year Hope wouldnt have been that convincing in being the uber witch than seven year old.
Saying all this they still can do a time jump at the end of TVD. Time jump of two years.

There have been MULTIPLE reports of crossovers happening in the Originals so TVD would HAVE to have another time jump. And yes, 5 years was necessary for Hope and her age to be convincing, obviously.
shareI havent heard about crossover but I read an interview by JP which does not suggest that a crossover will happen in TVD history. It might be that some characters of TVD will move to TO when TVD ends.

My actual hometown where I was born/raised and STILL live here - even Hurricane Katrina couldn't destroy the love we have for New Orleans, Louisiana; it took 3 years to get back into our home b/c it was hit by a tornado and flooding; dealing w/homeowner insurance, FEMA, Road Home (they are the worst), and having a suck ass Governor at the time as well as a criminal Mayor, they *beep* up big time..We stayed w/my husband's family for awhile up Northern Louisiana, and also stayed w/my sister house and my mom's house - they had no damage at all... Just saying NOLA is a GREAT place to live - just ask Ian S., who is also from Louisiana and often visits when he can.

From what I've been reading Caroline is supposedly going to be involved in saving Klaus. Possibly helping Haley. That is one of the crossover scenarios I've read about
