and that wakes Elena up for the other half of the season.

Or we find out Elena has been dead this entire time at the end, which would be funny.
I still think she will be back in the the finale episode... Don't care much for Elena, but Bonnie better survive and get the happy ending she deserves.

Elena has always been the main character, whilst bonnie wasn't. Literally for the main character to return, bonnie must die.
Unless they somehow pull a rabbit out of their ass and something in the vault can solve that problem w/o bonnie's death. Or maybe the Siren does it,etc. But that would just be *beep* writing to appease the fan service. They made bonnie pretty obnoxious half this series. She's gone rogue numerous timies (Enzo being the most recent) only to screw up big time.
They have already pulled a rabbit out of their ass when they invented Witchpire's and Vampires carrying children.
How is Bonnie saving Enzo going rogue? Because she's actually thinking about herself for once in her life? She's sacrificed all for these people numerous times, with the thanks she never gets, she deserves to go rogue every once in a while.

Not when there's a plan in place and her decision almost blows it.
Not only did she almost get Enzo killed, she exposed his plan by pretending to be obedient and now the Siren knows who he actually cares about.
They had a plan to get Damon and Enzo out and she caused it to fail. Deserving to be happy doesn't give her the excuse to do as she pleases. Especially when it ends up screwing everything up. :P share
