Your official thoughts on 'You Decided I Was Worth Saving'

8x03 SPOILERS

WOW, what an intense episode.

I loved the character interaction and that we're keeping it between the core cast, I absolutely love it.

Bonnie and Caroline's opening scene was great besides how many times Caroline mentioned Enzo.

Sybil constantly replacing Damon's memories just looks weird to me.

Georgie's cluelessness about the supernatural is pretty funny considering it's been 8 years and I'm not used to seeing that on here anymore.

I absolutely love that Stefan and Alaric are on good terms.

Alright, so this is where we get to the most FUN TVD has been in almost 3 years, I loved everything about the middle of this episode. Sybil taking shots and throwing down Bamon shippers prayers was pretty funny.

I literally laughed so hard out loud at Damon calling Stefan to help him jump Enzo

Little nitpick here though, Stefan caring about Enzo's death for Bonnie is fine, but it made it seem like they're friends, they're enemies, at least frenemies. They've teamed up like once.

I LOVED the build before this fight, it was kind of a callback to 3x05 when Stefan was supposed to feed on Elena, I loved the dialogue though, Sybil nagging at Caroline and Bonnie, Damon and Enzo addressing their friendship putting Stefan in the middle.
Sybil being thrown from the car was funny

The three way fight between Stefan, Damon, and Enzo was great, Stefan trying to break up and getting beat reminded of how me and my two brothers used to fight.

So yes, when it came down to it, Stefan was about to kill Enzo, so what? He's had it coming.

Bonnie chose Enzo, I don't like the pairing and still think it's illogical but okay she loves Enzo, she's obviously not in love with Damon, no matter what Season 7 indicated.

Enzo shut his humanity off, you literally took the worst Humanity flip the shows ever done and repeated it.

Ric hit Damon with his car and used the fork, so we're not getting the devil this season?

We were once again graced with a Stefan and Bonnie scene, although it was a little tense, but once again what'd you expect, I would've been like "Enzo got my niece killed and tried to kill Elena and you which I saved your ass was willing to take your place, sorry screw Enzo". I ALSO don't blame Bonnie here, she loves Enzo, Stefan was bout to kill him, plus Caroline stated she was just frustrated.

I thought Stefan and Alaric were about to become besties but they just talked about how bad Damon is this time.

Tyler Lockwood returned JUST TO DIE , I mean come one, he had 1 scene, and that's his goodbye? Tyler did say a great line about Damon not being himself and he goes "I am, I just have to keep reminding them" I laughed. He then makes it a big deal that Tyler would be the face that would wake Damon up at night, this speech would've worked much better if Damon had killed Matt, he's had more experiences and stuff with Matt, Tyler's been gone and Damon's interacted with him once a season besides season 2 and could probably care less, plus Tyler like the one extra member of the Mystic Falls group, Matt and Caroline will hurt the most, Bonnie and Elena have only had a handful of moments with him, same with Alaric and Stefan, although Jeremy hunted with him so it should affect him too.

All in all I loved this episode, 9.5/10 this is honestly one of the best regular episodes of TVD in years. Hope it continues.

You are always so much more positive than me...

I think I have officially lost hope that this season is going to be a return to form. While I hated the Elena flashbacks, I did like seeing sheriff Forbes again!

Damon caught the bouquet…oh god…it’s going to happen isn’t it? The double wedding? I bet they recreate the Miss Mystic dance. I will throw my tv.

My favorite part of this was when Bonnie and Caroline violently tag team stabbed Damon. Girl power!

They’re teasing Bamon fans again. At least someone finally acknowledged Bonnie was gorgeous, +1 point Sybil (although Nora did too, right?). I kind of liked the 3 girls together.

So glad Bonnie chose Enzo and not Damon.

Alaric is sort of my favorite right now. I love him and Stefan broing. I always thought that they made better friends than Dalaric.

I don't think Tyler is actually dead. If he is, it was a really terrible death that did not do justice to the character.

If this hell thing doesn't result in a Katherine appearance...this will hands down be the biggest misstep in this show's history. It HAD to be Sybil's sister that dragged her there?

I loved the physical violence, TVD doesn't do action often so I get a little hyped when my favorites fight.

I forgot about Caroline and Bonnie taking down Damon, that was awesome. The double wedding can't happen or else we riot.

I like Malarkey, hell, I like Enzo as a character, I hate shoehorned placement within this group.

I always though Stefan and Ric would be bros after the first time they met in the classroom in S1, that went a lot smoother than Damon and Alarics death fight.

The day Stefan or Damon call Bonnie hott is the day Julie Plecs mind melts.

Me too!

Katherine is in hell. I expect her reappearance next couple of episodes.

I loved this episode! Like you said, it was all about interactions.
Bonnie was almost happy with Care before she threw Damon under the bus for the worst love story ever. Great acting from a tired looking Candice, torn between pre nuptial bliss and compassion for Bonnie.
Damon is in a reverse season 6 situation with getting Elena erased. Now I want hear him saying "who are you" when she jumps his bones.
lol at the cringe worthy Alaric Stefan interactions.
I like how Georgie the amateur sleuth gets dragged into the preternatural world, and how her reaction is so much cooler than Matt's
Caroline all badass skewering Damon was my favorite scene.
Stefan getting beaten from all sides during the fight is symbolic for the entire show.
Bonnie dissing Stefan for choosing Damon WTF. How long does she know him, the guy who gave up his GF without a fight for the sake of his brother?
Poor Tyler, he deserved a better ending, IF he's dead; but I'm sure Elena will understand..

Haha l love your Stefan symbolism quip and hate it at the same time because of its truth, I always find Stefan's interactions with any men but Damon and Klaus a little awkward, like how he's always having awkward pauses with Elijah and Ric, or Matt and Tyler. I think he has a great rival esq chemistry with Enzo though that the show refuses to use.

Oh, Elena will definitely understand come on now.

I also find Candices efforts in her scenes way better than last season.

reply

I guess I can get Bonnie choosing Enzo, but she actually got irritated because Stefan chose his own brother? Bonnie constantly sacrificed all for her FRIENDS what does she expect someone to do for blood? Who is writing this garbage? Smh.

My ass may be dumb, but I ain't no dumbass...

reply

What would Stefan owe Enzo considering that Enzo carried about a big revenge plan against Stefan? But, Enzo's wrong doings are glossed over. We're just suppose to feel sorry for Enzo because he has no one else to fight for him besides Bonnie.

reply

Big yup to both of you

reply

Plus if the story was consistent Stefan and Enzo would be enemies.

reply

Exactly.

Stefan owes Enzo zip. Was a mass lobotomy performed on the characters and the audience doesn't know about it? Enzo terrorized and tormented Stefan for almost 2 seasons. Enzo should be grateful that he's still alive because Stefan could've and honestly should've killed him in season 6.

Bonnie expected Stefan to help this man? Lol.

My ass may be dumb, but I ain't no dumbass...

reply

My biggest problem with Stefan and Enzo and this storyline rn, they shouldn't be in the same room without trying to fight.

reply

Enzo's hatred of Stefan never made sense though. First - he was furious that Stefan wasn't doing his best to bring his brother back from the dead? Even though Damon is the person who abandoned Enzo to burn alive in the Whitmore Mansion & then suffer more decades of torture and experimentation & murdered his true love at the same time??? Then Enzo's "revenge" involved Sarah Salvatore and Matt Donovan in some convoluted 50 Shades/Twilight scheme that no-one ever quite figured what its endgame was supposed to be. And in the meanwhile - Damon himself returns from the Dead and he and Enzo never interact in more than 1 scene? This is the Best Friend that Enzo made an enemy of Stefan for.... but Enzo can't be bothered to even act like they're friends?

So can you really blame the show for pretending none of that ever happened or that it was resolved off-screen? It's about the same way they "resolved" Damon strangling Bonnie when he woke up from the Phoenix World or Nora siphoning Bonnie to unconsciousness in season 7 or Matt dealing with the fact that Damon & Stefan turned & then murdered Vicky. By pretending it either never happened or the resolution was resolved off-screen.

reply

It almost feels like he was actually meant to die in season 5, they didn't kill him off, yet they didn't know what to do with his character.

My ass may be dumb, but I ain't no dumbass...

reply

I think they were going to kill him, but Julie decided to keep him around because the audience liked him. But then they did not know what to do with him..

reply

That annoyed me to no end. I can completely get behind Bonnie choosing Enzo. Not a fan of the pairing, but it was nice to see Bonnie choose what was best for her for once. But, her expecting Stefan to choose Enzo is ridiculous. I'm sorry but if put in the position where I could only save my brother or my friend's boyfriend, there is no question. Brother wins hands down everytime, not even a second thought.

Its something you'll get used to a mental mind *beep* can be nice!

reply

That was weird writing for Bonnie. I get that she would and should choose Enzo, but to be pissed that Stefan would choose his brother over Enzo was a bit of a stretch. The show is spinning that Enzo is the only one helping or doing anything about their predicament, when in reality he is the reason pretty much everyone is now on the Sirens radar. He should have flipped his switch when Damon advised him too then maybe they wouldn't be in this mess right now, he was warned.

Definitely not in love with this one.

-Bad acting by Bonnie and Sybil. Cringy!

-Loved Ric calling Damon "the closest thing I've had to a brother"

-Sybil's mind altering on Damon is confusing. I'm not sure how it works.

reply

You and me both. The comparing and contrasting of Damon and Enzo is just muddying the waters somewhat. If they are trying to show that Enzo is stronger somehow then it makes me ask the question if he could resist the Siren, why has he been doing her bidding for months on end? I mean in this episode Enzo was able to block her out of his mind repeatedly but Damon just let her walk right in?

Do you think Damon is playing the long game? or is he under total control?

Yes great episode and georgies reactions to ric admitting that he was doing some real supernatural stuff and then actually seeing it is priceless and reminds me of why I got into tvd as my first ever vampire show. Hilarious. And great that Julie has a millenial to kick around.

reply

I agree, this was one of the best episodes in a long time. It was really well shot and choreographed. The Damon and Enzo fight scene was amazing, probably the best fight in the entire show.

I also didn't get why Bonnie was so surprised that Stefan chose Damon. They're brothers and they've been through a lot over the years, so that was a no brainer. Besides, there was a time when Stefan hated and wanted to kill Enzo himself.

If Tyler is really dead, I don't particularly like that Damon was the one that killed him, but I don't really mind that he's dead. Tyler had his moments but was expendable...at least for me he was. Others that are expendable for me and wouldn't mind if they died are Matt (might as well put him out of his misery) and Caroline (never really liked her that much).

Also, I don't really know how I feel about Sybil. I really like the mythology of the siren but was she the best they could of thought as the big bad for the FINAL season? Like, they've definitely faced worse before. Idk, perhaps in the nest couple of episodes there'll be some twist or something.

Which would be worse - to live as a monster, or to die as a good man? 
