I know we took a three year jump but I do not recall Matt leaving the police force, or leaving Mystic Falls. Was that depicted and I zoned out that episode or was this news to everyone else, too?

shareI remember how he blamed Stefan for her death but then was shown he had been compelled to think she died in a car accident. It did not completely take and all he recalled was Stefan being there. When Stefan revealed how Matt had accidentally shot her, Matt was devastated. But I do not recall that he left everything behind. Maybe it was a quick scene at the end but with all the drama... my mind draws a blank!

It was a scene in the ending montage of the S7 finale, he stated he reached out to all his contacts for Damon and Enzo, and then left.
