Should I start watching again?

I stopped watching this when Damon and the blonde ones mother came back and she had her fake family with her. It wasn't the best this series had been but I still want to go back and carry on from where I left off. Does it get any better and is it worth going back to?

You should, if you like badass Damon. Season 8 (so far) > Season 7 second. half > S 7 first half.

Is Bonnie still alive and does she used her powers properly?

reply

Bonnie started dating someone in S7, Enzo, had a Buffy moment and doesn't have her powers but a lot of screen time.

What the heck! Can they not afford to show Bonnies powers? She has barely used them in 8 seasons and I'm sure she's had them took off her a good few times.

reply

She's doesn't have them right now, but she has tons of more focus than in previous seasons.

I'm trying so hard to even remember the part of the show that you're talking about, lol. Fake family? I have no idea.

This is still one of my favorite shows, even for all its faults.

Seasons 1-3 were the strongest. Loved The Originals at the time, even if they got a bit annoying after a while. One of the images that has always stuck with me was Elijah smashing open a storefront window with a handful of loose change. Epic. Also Ric's death was traumatizing.

Season 4 had its moments (the events of Nova Scotia and the following episode still make me cry like a baby, also loved all of the dead characters coming back when the veil went down).

Season 5 lost me. I still watched, but I remember thinking multiple times that it had gone stale.

Season 6 picked up again.

7 and 8 have been weird without Elena, but I'm engaged again. Though I do miss Nina and hope she'll be back soon.

This season's story kind of seems like crap on paper but it's somehow pretty damn engaging and there are some very interesting bits about it.

reply

I haven't started season 8 yet

I stopped watching after six and haven't regretted it lol. After what I am hearing from my friends and people on here. I am glad I did. I just didn't feel the need to watch it again with out Nina being on there since she was the core of the show.

I've tried to get back info it and the first 15 episode or so aren't great but after that I think it finds its self again kinda, I think I'm on episode 20 now of season 7
