Season 8 Kai spell counter- to wake Elena

Kai cast a spell to make Elena remain in a comatose sleep as long as Bonnie lived. He says he booby trapped the spell so any fiddling with it or attempts to counter it would kill both of them.

We saw that bonnie could "kill" matt by stopping his heart for 6 minutes with magic and reviving him. The deed of ownership of the Salvatore house required Matt to die so Damon could enter the house again.

By that same logic then, if two witches cast a spell on Bonnie and Elena simultaneously to stop their hearts and make them both die at the same time Kai's spell should fizzle - if the booby trap in Kai's spell kicks in to kill them it can't because they'd already be dead.... then they could wait a few and be both revived by magic within 6 minutes.

I am only mid way through season 8 so not sure if Elena is already revived again yet or not so feel free to spoiler alert if you know what happens already

If Bonnie needs to die in order for Elena to revive wouldn't the spell to stop Elenas heart be cancelled out by the magic that links her to Bonnie? The spell on Elena seems more complicated than mere sleep. She is basically frozen in time, does not need sustenance and will not age, so we can assume the spell has already suspended her biological functions anyway.

If a spell only targeted Elena to die it wouldn't work as she's linked to Bonnie, but I''m saying if Elena AND Bonnie both die at the same time, from two witches stopping BOTH of their hearts at the same time, the link between them should be cancelled as they become independent again upon death, but should be revivable within 6 minutes like Matt was when Bonnie restarted his heart.

The booby trap in Kais spell couldn't activate to kill them because both elana and bonnie would both be dead in the 6 minute window

We know that when you die, spell tether is broken e.g like the salvatore deed situation when matt dies, the deed tether is broken even after he's revived

I understand what you were sayimg, but the spell is keeping her alive by obviously freezing her in time, if she is not aging and doesn't need to eat or breath, since she is in a coffin, it stands to reason biological functions like a beating heart are also suspended, meaning a spell to stop her heart should be ineffective. If her heart was still beating then it would have been simple to find her body in a mausoleum as no other human heart would have been beating among the dead, considering vampires can hear heartbeats.

What if Alarics daughters could do the spell????

Technically the spell Kai did is Gemini... and the last time I checked the twins are his nieces so couldn't they reverse it?

Btw in episode 1 of season 8 someone was after the girls but Caroline stopped her. Do you think this siren diva is trying to use them? Could they bring back Kai???

If all they needed was a Gemini witch to do the spell then in season 6, they had 6 and the matter never came up. Not even after Valerie became Stefan's new girlfriend or Mary & Nora became Bonnie's new girlfriends. So there was a time when they easily had 3 Gemini witches as allies and none of these new friends offered to break Elena's curse, making it highly unlikely that her curse is easily broken by any Gemini.

Anyway, another Gemini witch undoing the curse is a loophole & according to Kai, the curse was loophole proof.

The since this season allot of familiar faces are rumored to return and the main theme for the last season is redemption. What if they brought back Kai to wake Elena and to redeem his character. It would be over the top to think of him returning for a episode or two.

I think that pretty much everything would count as a loophole (which is lazy writing but that's another story). I think what will end up happening is we will meet the devil and Damon will make a deal with him (as the saying goes) to undo/override it somehow so that Bonnie and Elena can both live.

Yes they can with Bonnies guidance. Need to absorb and toss magic at the siren.

like you said ANY attempt, Kai was a smart guy so i'm sure he woulda thought something as simple as temporarily killing bonnie wouldn't work.
