Seriously! So far I just want him to die and go to hell! He deserves it!
I love Damon from the past seasons but since Ellena is gone he is just really bad and annoying. Guess I loved him because of what he pretended to be, but deep inside he is not, it's either that or the really crappy writing!
I think this is the worst version of Damon this show has ever conjured.
Characters without agency are boring to watch since they are not acting of their own volition. Therefore I'm not interesting in watching them, just like I wasn't when Stefan, Elena, Caroline etc were without agency.
The difference now is that Damon is arguable the most dynamic character and he is essentially benched and as a result the show is floundering. Also he is pretty much isolated from the rest of the cast with the majority of his scenes being with Sybil or Stefan. Damon works best when he is in the mix, cooking up a hair-brained plan, making the best of a bad situation with fun lines and a sense of humour.
Steroline just don't cut the mustard as the central romance. Bonenzo outshines them in every single way and is currently the only heart left in the show. Even so, they can't carry this show on their own because the character development for both of them is weak.
Example: Enzo eulogizing Tyler was just laughable.
