Would you consider Season six ending as the finale episode? (Spoilers)

I thought the season finale was actually a decent stopping point for fans. Yes Elena is gone but it's still a wrapped up story to me. And it's actually refreshing to have a heartbreaking ending instead of a nice one. The last two seasons with out Elena as the core just seems not Vampire Diaries. That's like Supernatural going two more seasons with out the Winchesters. Anybody want to discuss if it should have been the series finale ?

Basically the show is centered around Elena Damon and Stefan obviously but mostly Elena. so the show wouldn't have a good Ending unless they had something final for Elena. Having her stay in a coffin for the rest of Bonnie's life just doesn't seem to be a good ending because we won't know exactly who she ended up with. Did she get married, did she have kids? As much as don't miss Elena and I've loved these two seasons without her, I'm still very invested in what happens to her

Yeah but we still had unresolved plot with the Siphoners. In my opinion it should have ended with them defeating Klaus in season 3. We learned the origin's of the vampires, and the dopplegangers. I want the series to end with Damon and Stefan choosing each other instead of the girl thereby breaking the wheel. A big theme of the show was history repeating itself. The reason Damon and Stefan became estranged was because of Katherine and they fought over Elena. Klaus' and Elijah's relationship also paralleled the brothers.

The world is quiet here.
