Damon is a terribly written character...

There's no growth, no development, no real arc.. he's bland, repetitive, and has been flat lining for the past two seasons. And the actor isn't helping.

My favorite Damon moments were in the very beginning (because I thought there'd be some development later on) and when him and Bonnie were in the prison world. I thought it was nice that he cared about someone else other than Stefan and Elena... it was a change of pace.

But now, I swear for the past 10 episodes of this show we've been watching the same thing. And it's all focused on Damon as if he was this deep, complex, multi-layered character...

Ok, so I disagree with everything up until your prison world rant, Damon has always cared about Stefan and Elena, Rick and Liz and maybe even Jeremy, Matt and Tyler, and Bonnie, they are his family, before you say it he killed Tyler but didn't want o. Just like he didn't want to leave Enzo.
Damon has been the bad guy to get things done.
Yes, he is deep and complex, multi layered.
Like my earlier post asked, "Will the Real Damon Please Stand Up?"

Well I haven't seen any layers. Him and Stefan are kind of one-note characters. One is the bad guy, flips his humanity switch like it's nothing, kills a ton of people, feels bad later on. The other is sensitive, sappy, until Damon or Elena are at risk, then he amps it up.

"He is the bad guy to get things done" But what is it doing? What is he getting done?

How about saving Mystic Falls for 7 yrs, Stefan too.
Where would they be without them?

Really, I think Damon , Elena,Bonnie, Caroline, Tyler,Stefan, Rick have def tried to keep MF alive.
Even after they died.

Matt and Liz hardly got enough scene time to even be considered doing more for the people.

The character of Damon have been rewritten so many times that it's no longer funny. In season 1 Damon tell Stefan that him turning wasn't his fault . He chose to turn. He said that he owns up to what he do.

-Then in season 5 ,or 6 He blames Katherine for everything he did.

In season 1, and in season 2 Damon claim his love for Katherine is true,and she never compel him.
-In season 6,Damon claimed he never loved Katherine.

I think season 1,and season 2 Damon we're the best. It seem like once they paired him with Elena, he became a shadow of his former self .
