Damon is so weak

I feel like he and his brother are metaphors for the fragile male ego. Like despite the fact that he has raped and murdered people he can't handle the realization that he murdered Tyler. Tyler, who literally no one gives a *beep* about? Come on!

reply

Haha, I kind of agree. They are just so whiny and fragile. I feel like Tyler was alpha male (and Kai to some extent) and that is really needed sometimes.

reply

They really are. I hate to hear them complain. All this waah waaah I'm so bad and misunderstand. I will never be good. Tell me that I'm good mommy!! Waaah I need a baba!

reply

Yep. The main reason why I liked them both. Honestly, I liked Damon somewhat when he first appeared on the show because we had to take him as is, before the cycle of screw up, act out, rinse and repeat.

My ass may be dumb, but I ain't no dumbass...

reply

It's not necessarily about Tyler. It's about how fargone Damon is to murder one of their own. Everyone is writing him off and naturally Damon is worried what Elena will think once she finds out.

reply

Ok. But like who cares about Tyler? Why would Elena care about Tyler? It doesn't make any sense. He was barely on the show at that point. It's like if they brought back Jeremy just for Damon to kill him. I'm sure they couldn't get McQueen to come back b/c he's more successful elsewhere. So they randomly pulled out Tyler for some bs.

reply

They burned up McQueen's character on Chicago Fire a month ago, so unless he has something upcoming that IMDb doesn't have listed in production, he would be free to come back to tie up loose ends on Jeremy's story.

reply

Yeah, that's the part I don't get. His humanity is off and Elena (in his mind) is dead and he never met her. Why would Damon worry about what Elena thinks when A) he shouldn't care and B) He shouldn't even know her.

Either the writers have dropped the ball on this in their haste to bring back EVIL Damon or they are building to a huge A-ha moment. With this team of writers i'm going for the former. Damon does and remembers what he is needed to, to service the plot.

reply

Very inconsistent writing. Since Sybil has replaced Elena in his memories, we know Sybil doesn't personally know Tyler or care if he lives or dies. So that didn't make a lick of sense.

reply

First, I give a "beep" about Tyler his character has been one of the most heroic of the show.
Second, which "he" are you talking about .

They were all young and deceived by someone they were attracted to or cared about. That's what happened. That's part of life, not the whole rape *beep* there are more than enough stupid ass threads on this, stop already.

I personally loved Tyler because he had the balls to continuously call these folks out on their crap.

My ass may be dumb, but I ain't no dumbass...

reply

Me too, Tyler stood up to Klaus not only for himself but for others who could not fight back, he's one of my faves, brave and righteous
Solid in his belief of free will.
Can't believe he's gone for good, not like that, Liv made him promise to "make it count" when she gave him her life. There must be something more to his "death" .

reply

Damon has always been weak. Nothing new there

reply

Oh yeah if you consider persevering after being abandoned by your mother and first love, hated by your father, forced to turn into a vampire by your brother, tortured for 5 years by Augustine, forced to live without your soulmate for 60+ years, being mind controlled by a siren and having everyone you care about give up on you and want to "put you down" weak? Then yeah Damon is most definitely weak.

reply

Keep making excuses for him. He is over 100 years old. He needs to grow up.

reply

They aren't excuses. Just stating the facts.

reply

But he hangs onto these "facts" like a clutch. He refuses to be a better person. He's weak.

reply

Damon has always been strong for the people he loves, and for the people that love him.
Weak, is prob the worst way to describe Damon.
If anything he's the strongest of any of them, he's not afraid to be hated as long as he thinks he's doing what has to be done.
That's the essence of Damon.

reply

Those aren't strong characteristics. Most people think they are doing "what needs to be done". It just means they have conviction. You could just as easily say a person like Donald Trump or Kanye West has conviction. That doesn't make them strong people. They are really whiny and self-serving, just like Damon. That's what Damon is. He is not remotely strong. He's just acting like baby.

reply

Totally this. Damon is not strong. He acts out of his emotions way way too often and only does things because he knows he will be forgiven.

reply

Yes he does. It's better than lighting lanterns or plugging in carnival lights anyhow.
Speeches never helped anyone, that is what Damon knows.

Thank you, absolutely true!
Will the real Damon stand up!?

That's not the point though. What I'm saying is that the show writer's are drumming up drama that is unwarranted. The characters themselves have never cared about Tyler this much. Which is why the funeral scenes seemed so fake and insincere.

reply

Ok wait hold on...time out...flag on the *beep* play...where did you get this idea of Damon raping people? I've rewatched this series 3 times and never once did he rape anyone.

reply

In season one he compelled Caroline to have sex with him, something she wouldn't have done of her own free will...

reply

He didn't compel her to have sex with him. He compelled her to accept him being a vampire.

reply

[deleted]

Prove it. Give me examples of those supposed rapes.

Funny how you people are all about social justice, yet you have no trouble insulting people when things don't go your way. A bunch of hypocrites.

Aww. Did I hurt little SJW's feelings? Are you going to cry? Gonna tell the teacher on me? *pats shoulder* There, there. There's no need to be upset, little baby SJW. It'll pass. Take a deep breath and calm down. The crying will stop eventually, sweetie pie. Don't you worry your pretty head about it.

I LOVE cucumbers. You can do a lot of things with them.

reply

[deleted]

Aww, baby SJW is upset. 👶 Someone should get him a bottle. Here, let me just warm up the milk. Maybe I should add a mild sedative to calm him down a bit.

reply

Well, Damon has always been a weak character, so his behavior right now isn't a surprise. What's silly is the writers trying to make this seem like such a big deal. First, this is not the first time he's tried to murder one of their own, so this really doesn't have the impact that the writers think it does. Secondly, no one really cares about Tyler and Elena's really not going to care. She's proven more then enough times that she doesn't really care what Damon does to these people. They come second to her all consuming love for Damon. So this drama is pretty pointless.

reply

We agree that he has always been a weak and uninspired character. His brother is the same. I'm just annoyed that they are pimping out Tyler's character, acting like anyone actually cares if Damon kills him. Like this is the WORST thing Damon has ever done. Elena would not care. She would get over it and go back to making out with Damon. She got over him killing Jeremy (though Jeremy was saved by a magical ring). So yes, the drama is extremely pointless.

reply

IDK, Damon always gets in fake drama, just to end up winning and making his brother look bad.
He got the female lead on the show in season 4 (vs Stefan), then again in season 6 (vs Liam, most likely to become POTUS), and will again in season 8, I presume. That's all what counts.
