I thought that was what they were doing last season with that warrior girl but she kind of flopped.

shareIf you're being literal about it, as in why didn't they bring in an actual Slayer from the Buffyverse, that would be because the producers of TVD don't own the rights to BtVS. They'd need permission and I don't think they'd have ever received it.

Rayna: Replace Demon strength with Shaman Magic and a stake with a sword (or whatever was handy, she would have used a shoelace if she needed to: Death by Aglet) She was Rayna: the Shazaam McGuyver Slayer (with bloodlust)
The Five: Replace Demon Strength with witch magic and a stake with anything wooden and pointy. (with bloodlust)
Uber Original Alaric was technically a slayer, he was imbued with magical powers by a technical power that be, he was a chosen one, He alone wielded the strength and skill to fight the vampires and the forces of darkness, to literally stop the spread of their evil and swell their number. That is if he was allowed to. However since the whole everybody is connected thing that happened, that pretty much makes the originals safe, because even though Klaus said Damon and Stefan are from him, he could of been lying, and the gang can't take that chance.
