Yeah he should of stayed dead in season 4 - one of the worst decisions. We saw a repeat of him being resurrected like Bonnie did in the second season final. He added nothing to the show in season 5 and 6, and him not being in it changes nothing, and no wonder he finally was written off.

His death had a great impact in season 4, elena freaking burnt down her house for nothing, only for him to be brought back.

He should of continued to stay dead after season 5, and found peace at the end of season 5.

It's funny how they resurrect the only two male main character's who died ever in the show, yet Vicki and Jenna remain dead. LOL

Tyler being the only main to die across both shows. LOL

The actor went to Chicago Fire, a much bigger show. But then he got fired from there, so his schedule should be wide open right now. I hope he will be back, too.

He is back for good? i have not seen this show for two years, can you please tell me what is he up to these days, I mean what is his character supposed to be right now? I am trying to solve a puzzle for myself... thanks :)

He did, then came back to say goodbye to Elena , then left. He didn't die.
Don't know what they are talking about.
He's supposed to be an artist/vampire slayer , still living.

Don't know what they are talking about.

Jeremy has died on this show several times.

Not counting all the times the Resurrection Ring brought him back to life - he has died at least twice.

In season 2 Liz Forbes shot him and as his death came from a human, his Resurrection Ring would not work. Bonnie had the power of a 100 witches and she brought him back to life againt the wishes of the spirits/ her ancestors. The consequences of her actions led to the veil of the Other Side being thinned and Jeremy got the ability to see the people on the Other Side, including his ex-girlfriends, Anna and Vicky. Bonnie was punished "in-story" by having her magic stripped from her, and punished "out-story" by Jeremy cheating on her with Anna. (Plec's literal words).

In season 4, Jeremy was murdered by Silas. He was a Hunter then, and the Resurrection Ring only worked on humans. After keeping his dead, decaying body in her house for several days waiting for him to wake up, Elena finally had a mental break that led to Damon sire-ordering her to switch off her humanity and Elena burning down her childhood home. Meanwhile, the freed Silas would appear as Jeremy to Bonnie and was slowly driving her mad. At the end of the season, Bonnie brought him back to life and died in the process.

I think it is clear that "they" are talking about Season 4 where Jeremy's death had an air of finality that led to the Gilbert house being burnt to the ground, Elena losing her humanity and Bonnie almost going mad with Expression. But all the emotional progression that his death caused ended up being voided when he was brought back to life. As the OP said, it really seemed the only reason why he came back to life was for an excuse to kill Bonnie. From what BTS has revealed, it was Julie's intention to write off Bonnie for good in the early part of season 5, after her "funeral".

Not that Tyler is dead or anything.

But maybe people should wait, or know that this is the final season , still airing, before posting open questions on a thread where it's obvious that we are past season, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 , ya think?
