Alaric and Damon (spoilers)

I really hate that their friendship has come to this. I understand that Damon has been committing irredeemable acts, but at the same time, I have to think that the deal he and Stefan made with Kade was done at least partially to save the girls. I think he's definitely still in there somewhere and his humanity is fighting.

But to see Ric actually "kill" him is heartbreaking. I loved their friendship for the first few seasons. But since Ric came back, he doesn't fight for Damon at all anymore.

I like Damon and Bonnie's friendship too, but Damon/Alaric always had this deeper connection to it. I loved how Damon mourned after Ric died. I loved how Ric watched over him from the veil. Ric was Damon's only friend for so long. It sucks to see it in such shambles.

I was happy when they brought Alaric back. But I feel like it has been a mistake ever since.

Sorry for rambling. This season just seems totally bizarre in the realm of the character depth and development we saw for so long. It's like they just threw character continuity out the window in so many ways.

I felt the same way in season 6, it bothered me to see their relationship, it was like the connection they had was gone. At least on Ricks side. Thought all the characters that came back from the other side were not true to their storylines, it was weird.
As far as this season goes, it's a carry on from S7, Rick turning on Damon for putting himself down, ironic since Rick only wanted to distance himself and the kids anyway. Killing Damon was extreme no matter how you look at it, it's like Rick has completely forgotten who Damon really is.
Sad, but maybe better for Rick and his kids?
Damon always has a plan.😉

I haven't like Alaric since season 3 when he was turned into a uber vampires ,vampire Hunter and tried to kill everyone. I haven't been a fan of Damon since he killed Katherine. But Alaric is getting on my nerves. If it hadn't been for Damon and Sybil's plan the twins would belong to Cade. Alaric also has not taken any of the blame for what happened to the girls. After all he was the one who hire the Nanny.
