i know Elena is selfish and in fact many audience also see it .But Stefan still insist Elena was a good .

Cade wants Stefan to do what he did to Elena with other people .

His word were like

Find people that would get into place with Pearly gate by an inch and make them into folks that would miss by a mile like Elena

The Devil has spoken , that Elena is dark and deserves Hell.

By his standards they all do but the closest to good he can get the better, so Elena is a target.
He pretty much told Stefan that.
