Remember Quetsia? That was a pretty cool name but she decided to call herself Tessa. Tessa is such a stupid name. Why the hell would anyone with an awesome name like Quetsia want to be called Tessa? And this season we're introduced to Arcadia. Pretty awesome name. So, why the hell do they have to call him Cade? That sounds so stupid.
shareQetsiah is a very pretty name but when you're called that every day for many years at some point it just doesn't sound that special anymore.
shareArcadia nickname being Cade, makes perfect sense since it's easier to say. But Tessa is a pretty name, it's the name of my youngest niece. Plus Questsia is a mouthful to say all of the time.

Cade is just a short version of Arcadius, its like Niklaus going by Klaus or Nik.
While Qetsiyah changed her name to Tessa because she didn't like the original.
Same with Niklaus (Klaus) and Malakai (Kai).

true why give a long ass complicated name when it won't even be used right? niklaus-klaus/nik or arcadius/cade, you have a point there matthew/matt caroline/care bonnie/bon bon i agree just give them names that everyone will stick to.
shareBecause when people have long ass complicated names they generally shorten them in real-life. My name is Katherine but I go by Katie or Kate. At least Klaus/Nik and Cade are legitimate short forms that make sense. Dick being short for Richard and Bob being short for Robert drive me insane.
