The biggest problem with the last two seasons...

I know there's a lot, but what bugs me the most is no Mystic Falls or Salvatore mansion. These characters need a home base from which to operate that represents stability as all hell is breaking loose among them. Both of these were characters on the show, and taking them away has made the show seem chaotic. Where are half of these people even living? They just seem to be helter skelter all over the place at any time, and maybe I just haven't been paying close enough attention, but I'm not even sure where half of these scenes are taking place. Are Ricks kids supposed to still be in Texas?

The show has just become random scenes with no cohesiveness to me. If you are going to have all this really bad stuff going on in their lives, there needs to also be a sense of normalcy around them as a contrast, because right now these characters just feel isolated from the outside world. For me, part of the appeal of the show was the juxtaposition of this charming, small town with all the evil goings on behind the scenes. It was like a secret world within the normal world. Now it just seems like a completely separate fantasy world. The Salvatore mansion was a reminder of the bond between the two brothers, it was a "family home," and represented all their history together. Someplace both brothers could come always come back to.

This is the last season, they need to bring it back full circle to Mystic Falls, and it will be a supreme fail if they don't IMHO.

Stefan and Caroline live in the Salvatore house, she moved in when Rick requested to live in her house with the kids, they left Texas when Damon and Enzo got lost in the vault. Bonnie did live in a cabin with Enzo till recently, she burnt it down, after that she was seen in her high school bedroom which looks different now. Haven't seen Matts house since he proposed to Penny, and btw was not his old house or Tyler's house, at least not that I remember, Damon apparently lives in a hotel with Sybil, it has a pool, ugh.

You def have a point, Mystic Falls has a completely dark and foreboding feel now, ie, Rick killing Damon in the bar where they were always drinking buddies. Goodbye Mystic Grill.was kind of poetic for Matt, hope someone kills him, like now.

I think this is how they want it to feel, Mystic Falls and the people who live there are going down under the final evil that they can't defeat. Hence, the disconnect from warmer family, friendly homes and faces. They aren't sticking together and are losing because of it
Mystic Falls is dying. So are they.

We're all on our way out, act accordingly.

That goes to show how disconnected I am from the show, hadn't realized they were living in the Salvatore house even though I've watched them all. I guess it's just such a different feeling, it seems like a completely different place. I miss the old Mystic Falls and mansion.

Me too, maybe we'll see it again in the end.

The show has been such a disappointment the last few seasons. They deserve a better final season than the *beep* show they've been producing. Seriously, Julie Plec just completely has ruined a once good show that each week I was excited to see what happens next to hate watching it because I've become invested all of these years and it's in its final series season!

All I can do is offer this tired cliche,

Hang in there. šŸ±

Agreed. They should've played homage to the show by setting it in MF, not where ever it's supposed to be now

reply

Like Mammakat said, it is set in MF, but not that you would notice, Just last episode Damon was killed in the Mystic grill.
This last episode was filmed in the Salvatore house, and even the high school got a cameo but somehow it just doesn't feel right and I think the missing link is Elena. Damon is also not resident at casa Salvatore, it doesn't fell the same when we don't see him helping himself from the never ending supply of bourbon. He was a visitor in his own home this last episode. Weird.
I miss Damons bedroom and his shower.

*PAYED homage toā€¦

Well, Glenridge Hall aka the Salvatore Boarding house was torn down for a car dealership. Hence no filming possible any longer.
