WHY is the Devil an African with a British accent??

Does anyone else find this weird? the devil happens to be a random African dude from 1000s of years ago, yet he has a British accent???Wtf?? (the fine actor is also of Nigerian descent)

and what is an African man doing living in a random European village 4000 years ago? is this even realistic? people were rarely travelling to other continents and living among other nationalities back then..or am i missing something?

reply

His accent could be South African. Sounds similar to a British accent.

reply

his accent isnt south African, lol. I know african accents very well. Plus the actor is West African, so if he was mimicking an accent, it would be quite different from south africans...

The siren legends may rise up in different cultures, but the ones from the Greek legends lived on a Mediterranean island just North of the African Continent. People traveled and traded for thousands of years (look up the Piri Reis map).
However, the cultured British accent was not in existence at that time.

reply

that kinda makes sense, thanks. But the british accent made no sense, lol.

You do realize that the homosapien originated from Africa and migrated because nomad life was a common way of living in those times, right? I urge you to please brush up on your world civilization history.

what does that have dealing with my question? please cut out the attitude and give a proper response. No one forced you to read or comment in MY topic!

reply

It had everything to deal with your question and your defensive attitude reveals that you realize how ignorant and uninformed you sound. Whatever, not my business.

No, idiot. Im quite aware about human history and movements, GET OVER yourself. You rambling about homo-sapiens coming from Africa does NOT even relate to my question, nor does it involve the period in which the flashback took place. You just throwing out random info without even explaining anything. If your dumbass has nothing cute to say then you had better keep it MUTE!!

No more weird than the sirens having American accents and the originals (Klaus & Co) who were Vikings, speaking with cultured British accents! Maddywoo, in her rather condescending answer, was correct in pointing out that people from Africa weren't an unusual sight in the Mediterranean. The whole garbled mess that is the writers' interpretation of classical myths is just totally weird (a 'devil' from the sirens mythos called Arcadius? Really? Whatever happened to Hades/Pluto?), so I guess a few odd accents can't make it any worse! Besides, according to American TV writers, the devil always speaks with an English accent!

Honestly, why does it matter? If anything, it just means the Devil is everyone and no one. He's non specific.
