The season being a "reimaging" of the "The Return" trilogy?

So I know the show doesn't really stick that close to the books. I mean the first four books were more or less adapted into the first few seasons of the show with some stuff being added, changed or removed all together or drawn out to last longer in the show then the book.

So while currently watching this season I can't help but think that The Sirens have been just like the Kitsune. Both mythical creatures have the ability to control others minds and both take control of Damon and use them for their own devious intentions. Also in the The Return trilogy Stefan is taken hostage by the Kitsune and is transported to the Dark Dimension where the gang go to save him. So currently we have Damon and Stefan working for Cade who control TOS (Or Hell or what I could describe as the TV version of the DD).

Its fun to note that in the beginning of the The Return trilogy Elena has just come back from the dead and is a Angel/Human hybrid with awesome powers and is the only one to snap Damon of of the control of the Kitsune So I'm thinking the show will take a hint piece of that and probably have Bonnie die or become a Vampire/Hertic to achieve this.

All and all while Im a huge fan of the books they just don't work as a TV shows by themselves. I like how the show adapted certain key scenarios that mattered from the book and put them into the show even with Elenas Death/Sleeping Curse and the Kistune book plot is a little TO corny to work on the small screen but the current Siren storyline works for the show and as an adaptation of the books!
