The Return of Katherine...

There can be very little doubt that we will see Katherine again.
The way that Arlaric's student was taken away once she was killed was exactly how we saw the last of our favorite doppelganger.
Also, why would you waste the return of Nina on only the second best character she played.

I think we should all be thankful the show is ending.
When your villain HAS TO BE the actual Devil, then you know you have nothing left as far as creative writing.

The show has been a treasure for 7 years.
This year, so far, is bringing me little joy, but the return of Katherine's sass (and ass!) will make the rest of this bearable.

Just kind of wondering what (in Hades) Katerina Petrova has been up to. We all know that much like the proverbial cat, she always lands on her feet. She could truly be the Queen of the Damned.

reply

I hope we will see Katherine again, too. Episode 4's ending clearly suggested that Cade's Hell, whatever it is, is where she currently resides.

But why do you not like this season? I found seasons 6 and 7 almost unbearable with only a few good episodes, but I have to admit, I loved this season's premiere and right now I've finished episode 4 and I can't wait to watch the next one.

reply

Hi Northern_Girl -

This season just seems so brutal and grimm for me to believe Elean would come back and forgive Damon. He killed "one of their own" and also forced other people to light themselves on fire. That's just bad news. I can't imagine he's redeemable any time soon.

I guess it's not all that bad, but I do agree seasons 6 and 7 were more brutal!

reply

7 I can understand... but season 6 with Kai was great!

Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And whatever you do, don't Blink. 🏦

reply

That would be great, at least a reason to watch this season then.

She likely made a deal with Cade after receiving some suffering but she will probably betray him just to escape Hell and find peace.

reply

Yeah I'm not holding my breath. Of course, would my favorite character be back, Plec would make my day, and that hasn't happened for a while.

Katherine was a selfish, devious b**** who wouldn't even save her own daughter because it would jeopardize her own safety.
Who cares if we ever see her again! She got what she deserved, not for being a bloodthirsty vamp, or for what she did to Stefan and Damon. Because she let her own child die.

We're all on our way out, act accordingly.

reply

You got to be kidding. She couldn't save her daughter but she tried! She took her to that Augustine creep for a cure but they got screwed over. She did try to help her daughter and she stayed with her daughter until she died. She even went to the Salvatore house that she KNEW was a trap and spent her daughters dying breaths with her, gave her daughter peace before dying by invading her mind and showing her how their lives would've been if Katherine had found her 5 centuries before when she went looking for her banging on every cottage door. Nadia finally got to see how much her mother loved her, what she wanted for them, and hear that her mother loved her. What she did to Stefan and Damon? Yeah, she wasn't perfect with them but she did help them a lot and saved their lives multiple times, sacrificed her freedom for them, something she sought after for nearly 6 centuries of running, when she could've been a selfish bitch you claim she is and screwed them over to get what she wanted. She also genuinely loved both brothers but was in love with Stefan and showed it selflessly several times over the course of the show. Put your blind hatred away for 22 hours and rewatch season 3 where there's plenty of examples of what I just listed.

reply

Don't you know, Katherine is just an evil awful slut who *beep* over the perfect prince, Damon? He can do no wrong. And the people who know this aren't delusional in any way.

reply

Katherine was a good character that I loved to hate. Her flashes of humanity throughout the show gave her character some layers but not enough to overide her innate selfishness to ever put anyone else before herself.
To say she wasn't perfect with the Salvabros is an understatement, particularly where Damon is concerned. Did she love them? maybe she did but she didn't love them more than she loved herself. She still left them both to save herself back in 1864.
She couldn't even put her daughter first until it was too late. Yes is was too little too late, but even then she had to try and take Elena down with her by injecting werewolf ripper potion into Elenas' body.
Katherine had zero empathy for the girl born as a doppelganger like herself. Instead, she engineered situations that put everyone Elena loved or cared about in danger(Jenna, Jer, Caroline, Tyler, Matt) and even killed Jeremy in pursuit of the cure to leverage her own freedom from Klaus. Any sympathy I had for Kat when she lost all her family to Klaus' wrath totally dissipated when she showed that she was prepared to inflict that type of horror onto another.

What, exactly, did Katherine do to Damon? She was a beautiful women who was *beep* around with both brothers. Damon was an adult. Why was she obligated to stick around and potentially die to....what, exactly? Damon and Stefan were human at that point and not in danger, why should she stay?

reply

I didn't say that she was obligated to to do anything, I was just pointing out that she didn't ever truly love anyone more than herself in her entire life. She never sacrificed anything until it was too late (for Nadia) and even then she just had to try to take Elena down with her- showing the audience that ultimately Katherine was a vindictive bitch that deserved to die a terrible, lonely death because what she did to Elena at the end was not about survival but about revenge...and for what I don't know.

reply

You've got to be kidding, all she had to do was trade herself for the cure. ..
And people think Damon is the only selfish one, ugh

reply

I totally agree with you.

Those who has blind hatred for Katherine have not been paying attention to her storyline.

Many years ago, when watching season 2, I also despised this character. But as her story unfolded, I grew to love Katherine. She is the coolest, strongest, and most complex character of this entire series, nothing short of a tough survivor. Without Katherine, the show was just a boring teen love triangle drama. That was why I quit watching the show after she died in Season 5 episode 15.

In a way, Katherine is a reflection of us. In reality, most of us are alone, and we have to deal with difficult situations and overcome hardships in life by channeling the tough survivor within ourselves. We are alone, and we take care of ourselves, unlike Elena or any Mary Sue characters, who has everybody helping and protecting her, coming to her rescue whenever she's a damsel in distress.

Life is pain, and Katherine the tough survivor's within us.

reply

As much as I love Katharine her departure was perfect and I don't want them to ruin that like they did with Jermery

reply

I hate the storyline for this season. You are ruining my favorite show. I dont like that you have doomed Damon to only evil. I hope you will straighten this out before the finale. The return of elena/katherine would help. So far this has been a disappointing end to a great series.

reply

From what I have read Nina has refused to come back. Julie said she was happy to and wanted to be part of the finale episode only, but then a counter article said there is still hard feelings between her and Ian and she wants to be nowhere near him! When they broke up and he so quickly met up with and then married Nikki Reed Ian kept "reminding her" of what she lost, etc. She got sick of him and hence her exit.

This of course could all be gossip BS. No one knows who wasn't there.

reply

Nina and Ian shot s5 and s6 after their break up and he already was engaged to Nikki so Nina will come back if her schedule allows her to.She's a professional and she made a promise.
