Official thoughts: We Have History Together 8x08
SPOILER ALERT
Dammmnnnn Ian Somerhalder, back at it again with the great directing, my man.
The only true humanity free-dueling Salvatore Brother moment. Anger management for vampires. See, this was quite entertaining.
Aye! That one guys back, and wants to avenge Georgie, that's actually pretty cool, don't mind him sticking around so far. Peter on the other hand,
yes his storyline is picking up a little, but he honestly just seems like a bitter deadbeat idiot.
Caroline and Matt are good friends again? Nice of the show to remember this season. There's upcoming "tension" between them, I don't want to think it's a love interest situation, but I kind of do, Stefan's much more fun without the lovey dovey stuff and if anything Caroline proved the same for her this episode.
I also thought Caroline was going back to high school to just go because she's still 17 right lol.
Sybil is back, and I now understand that she's supposed to be the female Damon.
The Salvatore brothers start a hunting type of convo and Damon shoots down all of Humanity-less Stefan's ideas(yes apparently The Ripper wasn't back yet, Stefan wanted to be discreet or something, but isn't him being the ripper PART OF CADES DEAL!?) until they see a doctor who resembles none other than Elena Gilbert.
Not that I didn't LIKE it, but since when did Stefan Investigations happen with Cord-I mean Bonnie and Wes- I mean Matt. I mean the dude went all inspector gadget on Tara and I don't remember him telling us about the time he was Batman of Mystic Falls, even though I'd watch the hell out of it.
Damon picks at his pocket for you know what.
Caroline and Sybil discuss the 100 burning witches (hey, some ties to S1) I like this for nostalgia but besides that, their scenes weren't that fun.
Stefan and Damon make a play on Tara where Stefan tries to get her to kill him and they make a million parallels to Damons legit characterization, to Elena's choice, and the humanity Stefan had to not act how he was acting. I actually really dug it.
Matt, Peter, and new guy ( I forget his name) found out a Bell from back in the founding days could potentially kill The Sirens. I like that were finally getting to ending the S sisters, they're getting tiring, and Seline hasn't even been involved that much.
Amongst compulsion, Tara "kills" Damon. Thus, she's sentenced to Hell.
Outside they reveal the play and Stefan accuses Damon of feeling. Later we get a great scene of them and Damon throws the necklace out the window and kills Tara in front of Stefan, of course it's to the song "Jungle". Once again Somerhalder, you rock.
Matt and Peter save a bunch of Sybil's students (did I explain that, nvm it doesn't matter) Seline has the bell, Sybil threatens the twins, and taunts Caroline about her future with Stefan.
Damon finds the necklace the next morning and has a metaphorical talk with the community service guy. Damons humanity will be back in two or 3 eps tops.
Alaric, Bonnie, and Enzo are missing this episode, but Michael Malarkey was here in Spirit (and song) they played his new single "Scars" to montage over the final scenes of the episode. To which we see Stefan try to take one bite, but end up slaughtering the whole hospital, thus, The Ripper has returned. Not to mention this shot is the first brutal Vampire shot we've seen in years, bravo Ian.
It's only been three weeks in the shows time? I thought we were at least getting 6 or 9 months to get closer to TO.
Overall a solid 8/10 episode for me. Peter and Sybil really take away what could've been added by Bonnie or Cade, I'd even rather watch Enzo.
8 epsidoes left were at the middle of the end.
