EPISODE SYNOPSIS FOR 8X12 "WHAT ARE YOU"

SAVING SOULS – In order to save Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) soul, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) makes a deal with Cade (guest star Wolé Parks) to retrieve the Maxwell journal. Alaric (Matt Davis) and Matt (Zach Roerig) refuse to hand the journal over as it may contain the key to destroying Cade. Caroline (Candice King) desperately tries to connect with Stefan before Cade goes through with his plan. Darren Genet directed the episode written by Chad Fiveash & James Stoteraux (#812). Original airdate 2/10/2017.

So we know that Bonnie's love was the key turning on Enzo's humanity back on. Elena's love was the key to turning Damon humanity back on.What will be the key to turning Stefan's humanity back on?

Elena once said it will be Damon, especially since Nina might not be back.

I think so too. Katherine said a similar thing. I can see Elena waking up and Damon deciding to let her go,and allowing Bonnie/or Enzo to take the cure in place of him. I can't see Damon living a human life ,and leave Stefan to spend a life of eternity
Alone. I think someone else will take the cure.
