Question regarding K. Williamson and Season 8 (for the fans)

So, after having stopped watching the show after the 6th season, I was hoping to maybe catch up, especially after I heard Kevin Williamson was coming back. But all these threads are quite negative.

Is it that bad? Like, Season five-bad? I used to enjoy the show, but like most of the fans thought, it kinda started falling apart after the Originals left.

I don't think so, but I liked also S7, somehow Elena is always present (and cockblocks Damon), especially in S8. There was a big time jump that let to several changes. KW's short season 8 reminds me more of S3 or 4, since one main character goes dark, relationships end and interesting new characters die and mostly stay death. But it will never be one of my favorite seasons.

KW is even apart of this season?

You're right to come back for Kevin's return. Here's the thing: the Caroline Dries years did a LOT (too much) of damage. Think of it like politics. People attacking Obama for not doing all that he aimed to, when the reality is that cleaning up the Bush years wasn't exactly something accomplishable in an afternoon. I mean, who knows, maybe Nina would have even stuck it out for one more year had KW still been around...

He's doing the best he can with what (and who) they've got. If you were a full-on TVD fan, there's no reason not to just watch. If you haven't seen season 6, you will definitely want to catch up there, since there are storylines and characters this season that connect. As for season 7, you kinda do need to see it as well, as there's a place called the Armory, and Sirens tied into it, that are main themes in 8. And honestly, while 7 and 8 are not *exactly* the show we all fall madly in-love with, and it's a far cry from the Originals seasons, it still IS TVD. It's also still the end of an era, and anyone who is a fan of the *show*, not just certain actors/characters, would be truly missing out by not visiting Mystic Falls before it's gone.

While this is not my favorite season, I do love TVD, and I will surely miss it when it gone. I like this season for the sheer nostalgia alone. This season everyone of the main characters has a storyline even Matt. Just like in season one. I hate this season villains and not in a Klaus love kinda way. But it's not that bad .

Season is better than everything besides S1-4 IMO.

I've really enjoyed this season, a few glitches but overall some touching, funny, and downright awesome moments, will miss this show.

We're all on our way out, act accordingly.

Season 5 is the worst season of the show hands down. 8 is much better, but I still find it worse than 6 and 7. A lot of people didnt like 7, but I absolutly loved the first half with the heretics and Julian. I thought it was an interesting perspective as a family similar to The Salvatores doing similarly bad things to protect each other.
