Matt

I know some of you like Matt but I've got to ask, who sees his Dad after 20 years of abandonment, and never discuss the long gone Mom or the murdered sister? This irritates me! They only talk about why Pete left, what about Vicki! And where the hell is Kelly, last I remember Enzo said she did some not so motherly things to him.
I would think even piece of crap Dad Peter Maxwell and sorry sac Matt would have talked about Vicki while changing tires and giving watches?!

And, lol, since the storyline is half theirs this season, maybe we could actually get real insight into their familial musings, maybe a visit to Vicki's grave or some discussion about Matt seeing her dragged to hell?
If the damn bell is so important back up the story.
Wish they would make that whole mess clearer.

They are not going to talk about Vicki or anything unless it relates to the storyline of the show. Talking about it when it has nothing to do with the storyline is called filler. Usually filler just drags out stories and most of the time it makes for the show to be boring.

reply

Vicki's death does relate to the storyline, Matts sister, Peters daughter? Killed by Damon, it's Matts reason for hating Damon his hate for all vampires in the first place. It would be a filler if Matt were dead but since he's not and his Dad has knowledge of a "bell from hell" maybe it should be pertinent to the story.

(WARNING: Season 1 Spoilers)

IIRC, Stefan was the one who killed Vicki, not Damon. Although Damon might have been the source of Stefan killing Vicki since Damon is the one who turned her into a vampire making her emotions amplified making Vicki get out of control.

reply

(WARNING) S1 Truth
Damon killed Vicki. Stefan staked her after she became a vampire.
What's you're point?

I agree that Vicky's death relates to the storyline. Episode still shows that the character will make an appearance. Having Matt and his dad talk about her would have been a way to ease the audience into her re-appearance. Unless they deliberately did not talk about her so that she would be a Plot!Twist!

reply

Idk, it seems like Vicky and Kelly would be the first things they discussed, not the last. Not a way to get the "audience " on your side, at least not me.

They could have discussed Vicky and Kelly off-screen. Technically, unless it advances the story, it's not worth showing.

It's not any different then all the other fillers they have been feeding us this season. So I do not see why not include a little more insight into Matt's father and mother. Matt has been on the show for 8 years, and in those 8 years he have spent it alone after his sister died at the hands of Stefan and Damon.I for one would like to know where in the hell his father has been, and why did he come back now when he couldn't even be bothered to come back for his own daughter's funeral? And where in the heck is Matt's mom?

Heretics, mermaids, the devil, I can't believe they dropped Kelly's succubus story line for that. Anyhow, I'd rather have her back than another whiner just like Matt.

Peter said he left town because he was cleaning toilet , his wife was pregnant again and he hated the rich Families ( founder's family ) .

He left Matt before he was even born , and Vicki was the daughter he abandoned .

Matt didn't have any memories of him .

Peter did more harm to Vicki .
Peter hated the Founder Families because they treated him like dirt , And Vicki was also treated that way as well .

Tyler use her for sex and didn't even want to introduce her to his family.

I totally agree! I can't buy this story at all. If they wanted to finally give Matt some purpose on the show you'd think they would try a bit harder to make his father's storyline at least a bit believable. I mean the guy left his pregnant wife and kid because he was 'ashamed'that they were reduced to poverty, so he drives it home by making them straight out white trash. Yeah, that makes sense. Come to think of it, they do the same thing with all the parents on the show. They just throw them in with no believable backstory whatsoever.

When life becomes maddeningly polite... think about me.

reply

No believable backstory for parents on this show IS a recurring theme. The parents are all dead with the exception of Matts Dad.
Also, Ricks kids are not descendants of the founding families, nor is Matt.
Other than Meredith Fell, can't think of a founding family member left that could have a child in their current condition.

Now we know that Matt is from a founding family. He the first founding family.
