No he un followed her after his wife liked a tweet saying she was better than Nina. And Nina still followed him and his wife till he ruined the friendship they had after their break up..
Nina leaving is not unprofessional. Nina had a 6 years contract. The show was supposed to end after season 6. They chose to extend. She chose not to renew because like she said:" within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime. I was a human, a vampire, a doppelganger, a crazy immortal, a doppelganger pretending to be human, a human pretending to be a doppelganger. I got kidnapped, killed, resurrected, tortured, cursed, body-snatched, was dead and undead" The writing started to suck big time, she did everything she could with the characters, it wasn't interesting for her anymore as an actress.
If they had decided to keep going till season 20, was she supposed to in order to not be called 'unprofessional"? the Heck no. She gave them 2years notice that she wasn't gonna renew, wanted them to end Elena's story by killing her or having her move on from both brothers and start a new life elsewhere, but they decided not to. Not Nina's fault.
Ian was just too happy to not have to share spotlight with her anymore.Season 7 focused on Damon, it sucked, got the show cancelled.And no matter what happened between them, she never says one bad thing about him while he's rude and bitter everytime he talks about her. He even tried to keep his bosses from getting Nina back for the series finale. That's how unprofessional and insecure he is
