I really hate this last season

They destroy characters they developed for years and they even put stuff in that doesn't make sense.

Stefan was my favorite character and he was noble, a nice guy, and even though he didn't "feed" and was weak and slow compared to other vampires, he was still able to use his brains and speed and strength he had to take other vampires down (even the ones that fed). In season 3 he developed a backbone to not just give up and take down villains. More recently he was deeply in love with Caroline and even made a deal with Cade only get his soul after 24 hours with Caroline with his soul intact.

Now, in that same season ... Stefan seems to MAGICALLY be in love with Elena again? And is mad at Damon for liking her? In the early part of the season Stefan was WORRIED FOR DAMON that Elena might not like him anymore after all the things he's done and afraid Damon wouldn't be able to mentally recover. Stefan WANTED that relationship to last at the beginning of the season. Reminder: from the beginning of of this last season it showed Stefan was totally in love with Caroline and was even going to marry her.

Stefan just gave in so easily just to protect the 2 little girls instead of trying to something else first and try to take down Cade without having to give up his soul. You'd think he'd learned his lesson from season 3 especially by his actions in the 2nd half of season 3. Stefan was such a pushover in the 1st half of season 3.

And suddenly Stefan is a total *beep* again like he was in 1864??? Sure he sold his soul to the devil (Cade), but he can still CHOOSE who he kills right? And he was supposed to kill evil people. He chooses innocent people. Torturing people into doing something bad is cheating and doesn't make the innocent person bad. Like if you saw your son, daughter, or mom getting beat up to the point where they are almost dying, you would beat the *beep* out of the person beating them up!

And suddenly in the MIDDLE of the season, Damon's soul is still in possession of Cade, yet suddenly he cares for innocent people? It's Damon. Damon DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ANYONE BUT HIMSELF and maybe Elena.

And Caroline and Bonnie just LET the Psychic girl blackmail them into giving her everything she wanted? They had the upperhand with her trapped handcuffed on the wall, and they gave her everything she wanted. They should know the more demands of hers that they cater to, the more powerful she'll get and the MORE she will torture them!

I agree with you 100%. This season has been terribly weak and very poorly written. At the beginning of "Nostalgia's a Bitch", Matt made the comment that no matter how many people died, all anyone cared about were Stefan and Damon. And he's right. When Caroline said "do it for me", I was practically screaming at the tv, hoping against hope that Matt would just say "nope" and hang up on her.

The characters make no sense, bouncing from caring & good to sociopathic & evil. And it's not only the Salvatore's. They're just the most obvious. Speaking of which, this is the last season. Couldn't our heroes actually be heroes for this season? Be true to themselves instead of once again turning evil just cause?

Stefan was always the noble knight, usually tortured by his past and the things he's done, trying to do better in hopes of making up for it. Damon was arrogant and selfish, with an inner core that did actually care for others. Elena and Bonnie, for two. His brother for another. Elena wasn't the only one that he cared for. She's just the only one to whom he really showed it.

I'm sticking it out until the end, although at this point, I'm debating just storing them all on dvr and watching them at some later point. When I'm incredibly bored and have absolutely nothing better to do.

Stefan isn't in love with Elena, he was trying to get under Damons skin so he'd stop caring about her.

Turning innocent people evil and then Killing is deal with Cade for turning into The Ripper and being released after a year along with his brother. That's his deal.

Although I agree I do wish Stefan was still able to use brains and speed and not depend on his strength like a regular vampire like he used to.
