How come there has been many instances of supernatural beings getting their heart ripped out and still coming back the next episode but when it happens to Enzo he just dies? Maybe I missed a rule or something but it doesn't seem fair.

Enzo is a vampire they die from that unless stronger power is protecting them. Cade can protect those in his service from all manner of death. Cybil and Stefan were granted his form of immortality.

I agree it doesn't seem fair at all. I really like Enzo and Bonnie and really wanted them to end up together. I much prefer Enzo to Jeremy.

However Both Damon and Stefan had their hearts rip out and return to life the next day because they are "immortal". Both Damon and Stefan (like Seline and Sybil) made a deal with Cade to stay out of hell. That deal included making them immortal so they will never die and go to hell. Enzo had made no such deal.
