At this point Stelena would make zero sense. Maybe if there had been buildup but that ship was pretty much crushed and buried mid season 5. Plus Stefan has long moved on people just can't accept that.
In season 6 Stefan even acknowledged that Elena in the end was what brought him and Damon back together again.
If a Stelena endgame somehow happens it will make this entire season and really anything past 4 a huge waste and not make sense. Even with a time jump it would feel sloppy. It would remind me of HIMYM ending honestly which was the worst series finale I've ever seen!

I always wondered if maybe they'd go back and revisit Stelena but they never did. In fact they continued to bury that ship and kill it lol.
Also honestly after rewatching I realized Delena was always a presence even during the Stelena period. I didn't see it at first but now I do.

Ha?He lost her when he left her. And despite of his behavior she fought for him like no one did.But in next episode, they will state that Caroline is the love of his life. Elena deserves better than to be 2nd choice.
shareLol caroline is the second choice after Elena did not work out. Hence, how pathetic he rejected Caroline so many times before the unrealistic writing writers have to pull because God forbids Caroline go on a season without a love interests.

Honestly if Damon dies and Caroline dies or randomly decides to go find Klaus and they would stick Stefan and Elena together by default that would feel like second choice.
If you've watched the show you can see how Stefan and Caroline's relationship evolved. Perhaps the most "normal" and accurate depiction of true love on a show about supernatural beings. I enjoyed Stelena too. They had their time. I'll always like their past but I also pay attention and take in the story being shown to me. Caroline is not "second choice."
People really need to step outside of their little ship wars and just take it all in.

shareOMG your post is AMAZING it just hit every point on target about the whole Stefan/Elena relationship which has been long over, but some shippers can't move past them - Elena fell in love w/Damon she made that choice on her OWN! Yeah Stefan was hurt at first but he eventually got over it. I will admit that I did like the "early part" of Stefan/Elena's relationship, like when they first met and were together much earlier in the relationship. But as Lilrunner1485 said they had their time.
Caroline/Stefan's relationship was different b/c they were VERY CLOSE friends, even before her mother passed away but as time went by they got closer and eventually fell in love. I must add he was REALLY there for her when her mom was dying though, and did everything possible to prepare Caroline and took care of her and her mother. I would NEVER say Caroline was "second choice", they have been through so much since they have got together as a couple and LITERALLY had to fight to get back together again and they NEVER give up on each other - Caroline is pissed at Stefan but she knows that is NOT the real him, NOT the man she is so in love with. She is still fighting to get him back but is trying different ways for him to turn his humanity back on. Stefan had to do the same when Caroline turned her humanity off, he fought to get her back as well. I love them as a couple obviously.
I won't forget the past he had w/Elena b/c they did love each other but again that was the past and Caroline IS to be his future.
