Confused about the cure

Wasn't the cure the demise of Katherine? After she took it? Those hundreds of years as a vamp caught up with her, her hair started falling out, teeth feel out, she even had a hearth attack.

So I'm trying to understand why Damon or Enzo would WANT to take this cure? Wouldn't they just immediately age up and die? Am I missing something here?

reply

It was only her demise once Silas sucked it out of her. That caused her to age rapidly to catch up to her current age.

Silas probably didn't have to take suck all the cure from Katherine. He was just being a asswat.

What I was confused about was Silus had to drink ALL of Katherine's blood to get the cure, yet Bonnie only took a syringe full... How does that work?

Yeah that would be a question for the writers. Supposedly one of the writers tweeted that what was taken from Elena was "all of the cure" sounds like a plot hole to me. Hopefully they explain it.

Silas thought that he had to drain Katherine or maybe he simply wanted to kill her. Last episode confirmed that a syringe is more than enough for the cure to work.

Which would be worse - to live as a monster, or to die as a good man? 

Last episode is a continuity error. Nothing more nothing less. You can't just decide that something that has been shown and stated to be true before is a lie now just because the writers decided to not care about consistency and be idiots.

The ONLY reason that happened to Katherine was because Silas sucked her dry. Meaning, any vamp who is really old cannot have the Cure drank from them without the years catching up. That said, the writers always have the loop hole of pointing out that K was emptied out, as opposed to someone taking just a little sip...

If Katherine was sucked dry then she would've died right then and there. Silas didn't drain all her blood, but he did drink a lot. So, it makes sense that the syringe would be enough to cure Stefan.
