IMDB board are shutting down good riddance.

The constant bullying from psychopaths that play victim, the racism, homophobia, sexist people allow to run rapid, the so call fans that do nothing but bully people, the people that want no life outside of the IMDB boards, all will all have to go somewhere else. So many of you been on here for so long you have no idea have bad your behavior has gotten. Let's see how long you guys can last on other sites that have people making sure it doesn't end up like this trash bin.

I have never had an issue with this board. There were 1 or 2 annoying posters and so they were blocked. I will miss this place.

reply

Maybe this one was ok but most of them are filled with nothing but bullying. For every good one there's 100 bad ones.

See what I mean?

They all flag me as well even though I haven't broken the sites rules. Like I said this site is a joke for bully's to run rampant.

It's bittersweet for me. I won't miss the *beep* but they were handy if i had a question of about a movie or show and 99% i'd get an answer unlike on twitter or tumblr...

I'm do pissed right now since I can't go anywhere else to talk about shows or movies. Social media sucks and is all about shipping. They need to not get rid of them.

reply

This is my sentiment exactly. I'm on tumblr but tumblr is like shouting into a soundproof room. You can gush about your favorite ship but only amongst people that ship it too, because everyone else will either complain about you being in their tags or insult your ship for being destructive. There's no engagement, there's no discussion. People don't even talk about the plot, unless it's to complain about the treatment of WOC/POC (which I don't mind, but I also need more fruitful topics). No one converses about plot holes or their interpretation of events. It's legit just a place to fangirl or complain about a social justice issue on the show.

I feel like without IMDB message boards, I'll lose interest in a lot of the shows I watch because civil discussions are what keep me engaged with them on a weekly basis.

I'm so pissed.

A rose is just a rose.

I haven't really had that experience. Sure... I've had a few differences of opinion with other people, but it hasn't gotten out of hand. We've just both said our peace and let it go. I like going to the IMDB boards just to see what people are saying about the episodes... even if I don't post. It is interesting to see what people think about what is going on in the shows. If the boards close down then I will only use IMDB occasionally to remember an actor's name or see what else they were in. I use it mainly FOR the boards and there isn't another place to really discuss the shows like IMDB. It really sucks in my opinion.

This so much! They're going to lose so many users because of this.

Exactly! It's ironic that their idea of "enhancing the customer experience" and dealing with the drop in traffic is to remove the only feature that made people come to this site in the first place. 

Exactly! The only real reason why so many people come here is to be able to talk about their favorite movie, or show. They are going to lose more then just traffic to the sight, they going to lose subscribers to imdb.com pro. A lot of up and coming stars sign on to talk to their fans, and a lot of pass their prime stars do too as well . I hope this place stays open, so please sign the petition and pass it on.

reply

Same here! i dont post often, but i really like to see others thoughts on the episode as I don't have friends who watch the same shows. Closing the boards means I won't be here much. thats to sad...

reply

The worst that happens is that a minute of my time is wasted before I realize I'm being trolled. Most of the time, the boards are a great place to find out more info, test theories, and discuss art with a wide audience. Where else is there to go for these things?

I am so sorry you feel that way, my question would be why would you post that, if you hate it here so much? Why wouldn't just not post here in anymore. Sure there have been a few people over the years that have acted like insane but we are all behind our computer screens. And have the power to block those.

And I'm actually shocked that IMDB has made this move. I feel that this is a bigger issue - money and time and that discussion on here can hurt movies and tv shows in general.

I did stop. Some boards are ok but for every good one there are 9 bad ones.

reply

i am soooooooooo pissed at this, the few seconds of trolling are nothing comapred to the enjoyment i get on these boards
i can't use facebook for that stuff way too personal
and reddit? meh it's not the same structure

#cloneclub /i am the topic closer, the real topic closer//if you post after me a faerie gets cookies

reply

Honestly? I think that's just an excuse and it likely has to do with the cost. I mean sure there is some trolling but every message board has it's trolls and some boards on this site seem to be a stomping ground for trolls but it's weird that instead of dealing with it they just delete the whole system.

You'd think that some other social media would buy it then. Seems like a lot of people stil want to use it.
