Every Actor's Best season?

With the 8th and final season coming to an end and the unfortunate closing of the message boards, I wanted to make one last post on this board for old times’ sake. what season was every main character best acting accumulatively? And then a little bonus if you want to pick a few scenes from other seasons that you enjoyed as well your welcome to. No need to read all of my extremely long post, you can just post the best seasons for the actors lol

Paul Wesley: I would say Paul's best seasons were either season 1 or 3, I think I'm leaning towards season three because of the struggle he faced basically the entire season with his actions. I think some of his highlights were 3x05 "The Reckoning" when Stefan is compelled to attack Elena, I thought Paul did a great job showing the struggle and anguish trying to resist. Another would be 3x07 "Ghost World" he did some impressive work with the torture scene with Lexi, and his Dialogue with Her and Elena throughout the episode. 3x11 “Our Town” Stefan abducting Elena and the scene on Wickery Bridge was a great scene between those two, Nina really brought it that scene. Paul was able to play off of her extremely well. 3x14 "Dangerous Liaisons" seeing how close Elena and Damon were getting, Paul did a good job showing the torment he was feeling from what he did to Elena and seeing that he was losing her more and more, the scene with Nina after the dance outside the Gilbert House was a great one where you see Stefan finally showing emotion when confronted by Elena. 3x16 “1912” getting more history on Stefan losing control and becoming the “Ripper of Monterrey” was interesting and then when Damon tries to help Stefan and Elena walks by was another nonverbal scene that Paul was great in. 3x20 “Do Not go Gentle” Stefan and Elena in the gymnasium was another great scene for Paul. 3x22 Scene with Stefan over Elena’s body in the morgue is heartbreaking. Other highlights are Paul’s scenes in the beginning of the season with his humanity off even a little humor thrown in there. Bonus scenes would be the scenes between Paul and Ian the Salvatore brother scenes are always a favorite, 6x05 when Damon returns in the crypt while Stefan’s mourning is an all-time favorite for sure. And Paul’s scenes with Arielle Kebbel are always a favorite as well, Lexi’s scenes in her return in season 4 are heartbreaking.

Nina Dobrev: Nina is harder to decide which was her best season because after season 1 she’s regularly playing two characters which her work with differentiating Katherine and Elena being amazing. If I had to choose her best season for me was probably either season 2 or 3 again leaning towards 3 because of the conflict her character was facing with the feelings for the brothers, the danger that Klaus and the Originals brought to her and her friends. 3x01 “The Birthday” I enjoyed her work in the episode, the highlight of the episode for me was the phone call. Her emotion she brought to the scene was great, the hope she had that it was Stefan on the other end of the phone was emotional. 3x03 “The End of the Affair” was another good episode with Nina and Paul in the closet and then outside the club. 3x11 “Our Town” On wickery bridge after Stefan kidnaps Elena, as previously stated Nina really brought her A game in that scene it was honestly hard to watch her breaking down in that scene. More and more scenes from this season were great but I feel I have to bring up the scene from season 5 where she played 3 different characters, pretty amazing job!

Ian Somerhalder: Ian’s I think by far was season 2 starting with the first episode with the heartbreak of learning that Katherine was always in love with Stefan. Then the stretch of episodes dealing with his emotions after Rose died and his frustration with his feeling for Elena were great work by Ian. From 2x11 to 2x13 are impressive. Ian’s scene where he confesses he wants to be human more than anything was a highpoint for him, for a character that tries to bury the human side of him it was nice to see that side of him. Then of course the dream sequence with Rose was amazingly acted on both parts and written well. There were more scenes that I enjoyed from the season as well but to the bonus scenes, like Paul I enjoy the Salvatore brother scenes Paul and Ian both always seem to bring 100% to these scenes. Another great bonus scene was 3x20 when Damon and Alaric are in the crypt waiting for Alaric to die.

Candice King: I’d have to say season 2 was Candice’s best season as well, season 2 was the paramount season for the character of Caroline. Turning into a vampire and growing into herself was origin story of her character, basically everything Caroline is in now started in season 2. 2x02 when Caroline first turned into a vampire you saw more of Candice’s acting ability. And in 2x03 was the first time that I really began to like the character. And from then on I’ve enjoyed the character.

Kat Graham: Kat is tougher to pin point because there’s been seasons where she’s really pushed to the sidelines and doesn’t get the screen time as others. But season 2 she was a focal point and that built up from the beginning of the season to the end where Bonnie was finding herself as a witch and becoming the weapon to kill Klaus. So, I’d say season 2 was her best season as well, I thought the beginning of season 6 she did good work with Damon and Kai.

Matt Davis: Matt Davis best season was season 3 that was by far his biggest workload I believe, I really enjoyed his scenes throughout the whole season. I always found Alaric’s scenes to be refreshing. Always enjoyed his relationship with Jeremy and Elena, like his relationship with Jenna which made the beginning of season 3 pretty sad when he thought they’d be better off without him. Probably one of the most memorable scenes of the whole show for me will always be 3x20 when he comes out of the crypt and sees the everybody standing there saying goodbye while the “Be Still” by the fray plays.

Michael Trevino: Michael’s was season 2, finding out the mythology of his family and becoming a werewolf was his best work. The scenes where he transitions into a werewolf were intense and the physical work he showed was great. Also, his emotional work dealing with the struggle of becoming a werewolf were great too. I felt bad for him when he left town with Jules, I think the song added to the scene as well. I mean overall, I’d say he was the weakest link in the cast but he had his moments.

Zach Roerig: Zach is definitely harder to pinpoint not really ever having a lot of screen time. Not regularly watching the last two seasons I can’t tell what his workload is like but in the first six seasons I think the most screen time he had as a whole was probably season 1. Although I watched the scene of him finding Tyler’s body in the trunk of the car and it was a very sad scene. Matt losing his best friend was difficult to watch.

Michael M: Seeing as I only consistently watched the first six seasons I really don’t have a big scope to choose from, So I’d say season 5 was probably his best season, his St. Augustine storyline was interesting and I thought he did a good job. Even brought a little comedy to the show that was enjoyable.

Steven Mcqueen: I'd say season 3 for him as well, never was a big fan of Jeremy. But he had some good moments in this season probably his best moment was 3x20 when Alaric was going to die. Very sad scene!

I could have written more for each actor but it was already a long post as it is.

Paul: Season 4 when he was free from Elena and not yet reconned into a total looser.
Ian: Season 1 when he was a cool badass vampire.
Nina: Season 2, I really saw 2 different characters and Katherine because my favorite TV character. Also human Katherine in 5.
Candice: Yes season 2, as fresh vamp. Also 5, 6, 7 and 8.
Trevino: He was fun in Season 1, even if later seasons were more challenging acting wise.
Steven: Season 1 as druggie.
Zach: I hated him less in Season 1.

Yeah I was wrong, re watching season 2 and Nina killed it!

Nina: 2. She was pretty consistently great until season 6, when she seemed to give up. I generally think she was better than she had to be on the CW, she gave personality to a fairly blandly written Elena.

Ian: 6. Ian's acting is best with Bonnie scenes. I have never been wowed by him.

Paul: 3, Paul was pretty inconsistent and I wasn't impressed by Silas at all, but he had his moments. He played off Klaus very well. Others have mentioned that Paul plays off of the women well and I agree--I think they all make him look better and help him figure out how to play the scenes. On his own, I question some of the choices he makes.

Candice: 7, although I think she has steadily improved each season. I think she has been the most consistent actress on the show, always ready to work. She somehow made me like that stupid vamp pregnancy storyline which is a testament to her skills.

Kat: 6 or 7, she does her best whens she plays off someone else like Kai, Damon or Klaus. I think she too struggles with the best way to play scenes and some choices don't make sense.

Zach: Couldn't tell ya.

Matt Davis: 3. Alaric is pretty consistent and I generally enjoy his scenes more than other people do. I also liked when Klaus was in his body.

Steven: Jeremy has never stood out to me and I think his delivery was often completely off, so I don't have a best season for him.

Hmmm.

Paul would be s3 because of how well he played the Ripper/humanity-off arc, and his chemistry with Nina was on fire that season. It was the first season I started realllly rooting for Stelena and Stefan.

Nina, maybe season 2 because of how she captured Katherine so perfectly.

Ian I've always found a very limited actor (now Paul has joined him), but s7 was when I hated him the least lol. S1 is when I thought the writing for him was the best. Idk, he generally sucks.

Kat I would say s6 because I completely agree with whoever said that Bonnie/Damon in the other world brought out the best of both of them. She finally made me care about Bonnie and gave me chemistry with a male pairing.

Candice stayed consistently until s5 when her character slowly degraded and became insufferably by season 6. I'd say s2-4 were her height. 2 especially because she showed Caroline slowly changing.

A rose is just a rose.

Nina's were definitely 2-4. Very hard to pick just one, but I can definitely say there was a steady decline following 4. It started to feel more like we were seeing NINA more than ELENA. But that's not to say she didn't have her moments or that she was ever awful. It was just obvious that she was feeling the pull to move on...or at least, become more an ensemble player and less THE star.

Paul has always been all-in. But his weaknesses are in playing humanity off Stefan the same as Silas, the same as no memory Stefan, the same as serial killer dude in his body, the same as humanity not totally off as Klaus' lackee

I'm sure people will rival this, but I gotta say, I honestly think Candy Cola is THE MOST natural actor on the show. Down to the tiniest nuance, she's just so, SO good, in every moment. And when really challenged, like having Care's humanity switch off, she KILLED IT. And it's kinda crazy, since Candice has the least experience of everyone on the cast. Curious as to whether or not she will continue acting....or perhaps further pursue music. It seems like the latter is most likely, being a new mommy and married to the music, so to speak :-)

Nina all seasons. She always delivers no matter how crapy some writing is.

I agree with most but I think Nina's best was 4. She played Elena struggling with vamprism, attraction to Damon, and the. jeremy's death flawlessly. She also still played Katherine and hulanityless Elena.
