Why do people excuse his actions? In fact, I doubt he even cared about Bonnie of anyone for that matter. In episode thirteen, he brings Bonnie's worst threat in her presence, Kai. Can he die? Why does Stefan have to instead?

Who excuses Damon? This (while existing) message board is full of people, like myself who cant stand the character. The show wanted vampires to be more human then monster but forgot that humans not related to the story still exist in the universe. That girl at the bar just gets murdered by Damon so he didnt have to kill caroline for example. Cade said it himself "she wasnt evil" wth did she do to deserve to die except think she could have a drink in mystic falls? Damon is the worst on TVD but the list of terrible is followed by the rest of the cast with Stephen being a close second.
If he brings Kai to Bonnie this Bonkai fan will love him for life. You reason for hating may be just my reason to start liking him again
