Why can't I find this movie anywhere?

I have spent hours downloading torrents, searching the web, googling, clicking links, avoiding viruses, getting tricked into watching the trailer, over and over again, stumbling onto write-ups that include spoilers :( ...and I still can't find this movie. I try about every couple weeks for the last couple months. Anyone have a link? I don't understand its situation in theaters...it's getting released...in Taiwan? I don't get it. What about in US or Canada? Ok I'll stop ranting and hope that some kind soul will take pity on me and supply a link or suggestions.

I looked at box office" on the main page and by late August it was on 67 screens indicating a slow start by the third week or so.

Then I clicked on "showtimes." IMDB knows my zip code (but little else). It told me that it was on 5 screens at this time in my city, the theatres, and addresses.

I suggest you do that. Go to showtimes and tell it in what zip codes the theatre should be in. You may have to broaden out the search area if you are in a rural area or if it has limited appeal by an art house or foreign movie.

This is a independent film so few theaters will have it. Luckily one of my local theaters had it.

I'm curious: where do you live?

I'm in a suburb on the "North Shore" of Boston, too far out of downtown to take advantage of the vaunted Boston/Cambridge movie scene. Nevertheless, over the years, I've built up a stable (five in a 15 mile radius now) of non-chain -in fact fiercely independent- theaters that shedule things like Celeste & Jesse Forever (and in fact much more obscure things too: did you see the one about the Norwegian Troll?) all the time. One sign of their otherness is that all five pop _their_own_popcorn_ on site in real time; no trucks, no giant bags.

It's of course been a little tricky to find these theaters, as their business practices don't leave any room at all for an advertising budget, and as their last-minute scheduling changes mean the listings are wrong or absent oftener than I'd wish. Looking through the big city newspaper, you'd never know they even existed. But investigating off the beaten track turned up a couple, and talking to other patrons there (and even looking at the printed literature there) turned up the rest. They all turn out to have websites -with accurate schedules- too. But of course those websites are so obscure I could never find them until _after_ I'd identified the theater; mentioning "Search Engine Optimization" to them just elicits blank stares.

One thing I've learned is that with shifting scheduling and little promotion, they don't show many previews (and those they do show are short), which means I have to be on time. Arriving 15 minutes after the printed starting time -which works just fine these days in the local chain multiplex- would mean not only finding a seat in total darkness but also missing the whole first part of the movie. I've also learned that quite a few things don't turn out as hoped for them, and you can see their dirty underwear fairly often: specifically, quite often I see a poster or a trailer for a movie that in the end does _not_ play at that theater. So I have to pay attention and roll with the punches.

Interestingly, the IMDb "shedule" function usually _does_ have reasonably good information about these places, so IMDb's "near this zipcode" searches usually turn them up. I've never figured out a way to get good _future_ information though (probably because they don't know themselves), so my strategy must involve keeping up with several of these places, rather than just one of them.

I live near the theater called the Showcase North which is in Worcester. They have Art house and independent films there. The problem is it takes a while for some of the films to get there like weeks after the release date.
