Hailee Steinfeld deserved an Academy Award for her acting in True Grit. One of the greatest children actors I have ever seen.

Indeed, and this one performace has earned her years of work in Hollywood after True Grit. I think to keep working, she needs to pick roles that plays to her strengths. She doesn't play the typical bubbly teen girl well, but she does play the smart and strong female well. She could be this generation's Geena Davis.
Just a fantastic performance IMO! Saw her recently in Begin Again ( a support role )but she stood out in that too.🐭
