they released it as a movie instead?

It got the feel and looks to it that's for sure...

And the ending with the map of all the tribes makes you think that each episode they would run into new werewolves of other tribes and stuff

I thought it was too, but it looks like it was one of 'those' movies the studios didn't bother with, much like the Number Four series. Pity, as it looked like it would have been a half decent show to watch.
