Natalie Portman’s Lady in the Lake Drops Full-Length Trailer — Get Apple TV+ Release Date

Lady in the Lake, a seven-episode limited series starring Portman, will premiere July 19 with its first two episodes; subsequent episodes will be released every Friday (through Aug. 23). On Tuesday, Apple TV+ released a full-length trailer for the drama, which you can watch above.

Based on the Laura Lippman novel and set in 1966 Baltimore as the disappearance of a young girl grips the city, Lady in the Lake stars Portman as Jewish housewife Maddie Schwartz, who is “seeking to shed a secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist.” Emmy nominee Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit, Obi-Wan Kenobi) co-stars as Cleo Johnson, “a mother navigating the political underbelly of Black Baltimore while struggling to provide for her family.” The two women’s “disparate lives seem parallel at first, but when Maddie becomes fixated on Cleo’s mystifying death, a chasm opens that puts everyone around them in danger.”

Joining Portman and Ingram in the cast are Y’lan Noel (Insecure), Brett Gelman (Stranger Things), Byron Bowers (The Chi), Noah Jupe (Franklin), Josiah Cross (Masters of the Air), Mikey Madison (Better Things), Pruitt Taylor Vince (The Mentalist) and Dylan Arnold (YOU). Alma Har’el (Honey Boy) serves as creator, writer, director and executive producer.

I don't know. Looks pretensions and boring. I could barely finish the trailer. What is the plot?

They try to pretend is about murder. While whole trailer is some flashy scenes and looks like it's more about Portman's character being bored with her suburban life a-la Revolutionary Road. So she runs around and throws hysterics.

And Moses Ingram is playing again her character from Obi Wan that everyone hated. She really is a weak actress. She has exactly one face expression - like she despises everyone for nor reason.

Portman is playing herself again too. I like murder mysteries. But it looks boring and like it will not be about investigation. But more about "feelings" or Portman and Ingram's characters.
