Okay, I'm confused. I need answers.

I just looked through a lot of the posts on this message board. I keep seeing the word "unrealistic", and people are going on about the scenes that they found stupid, or annoying.

Did ANYONE find the ladder scene unrealistic, stupid or annoying? I thought for sure that at least one person would have said something about it by now. I just watched the film two days ago. When that guy flies down the ladder THAT fast, and then lands all nicely, and doesn't have broken legs? Or completely torn up hands? That was ridiculous! My friend and I could NOT take the rest of the film seriously once that happened. It completely ruined it for both of us. Sooooo cheesy and random as hell. We laughed so hard we were nearly crying. I think it's hilarious. I just can't believe no one has said anything. Unless I just missed it, in which case...sorry.

Yeah, it was unrealistic. Another reason that he wouldn't have slid down like that is that he hadn't been in that building before and had no idea what the state of that ladder would be. Could have rusty jagged bits sticking out all over the place as far as he knew.

If they had been in the building before, would they really have had the time or inclination to check every inch of the ladder to make sure they could slide down it really quickly?

Having said that, it didn't ruin the movie. Neither did the car chase. I kind of switch off during car chases. They're just filler.

I choose to believe what I was programmed to believe

The most "unrealistic" scene on which unfortunately the whole film rested actually occurred at the very beginning, when Liam lost his briefcase containing all his identifications because he left it unattended in the taxi he was taking. He noticed it only when he was about to check in. Not even an ordinary traveler would have left the brief case out of his sight, and Liam was on an important assignment as an assassin! There was no way that could have happened in real life.

And what about Liam changing gears while driving? simply antiquated directing skills IMO

Wow! I can't believe how many people have responded to this. I want to say thank you to those who actually read my words, rather than lashing out in anger due to my laughing at a film that they actually enjoyed. People on this message board kept talking about how unbelievably unrealistic and tacky this film is, but I never saw the ladder part mentioned. Hence my original post. I wasn't trying to rip on anyone or their opinions, I just wanted to see if anyone else found the scene as funny or ridiculous as I did. It all got blown just a tad out of proportion, I'd say. =] But a lot of the responses gave me a good laugh. The mention of a tetanus shot was hilarious.

By the way, I apologize for any rudeness I put forth in my efforts to clarify what I had said and why I said it. It is sometimes difficult to stay courteous and civil when people ridicule you and call you names due to a difference of opinion. Especially when it is over something so petty. I'm glad so many people got as much enjoyment out of the silliness as I did.

The ladder scene did seem a little out if place but the same method of rapid descent was used in U Boats during the second world war.....see Das Boot.Maybe he was an ex submariner!!!!!

It is absolutely possible for someone to go down a ladder like that, with hands loosely gripping and feet also creating friction in order to break the fall. And the guy was a trained agent as well.
