Who are the Germans? Against their religion to swim. Amish? Menonites? Anabaptists?

Wasn't against their religion, they were forbidden to swim by their overlords in the High Schloss.

Yah, Germans couldn't swim and didn't know that they must boil river water before drinking it.
We learnt all that from Taylor Sheridan (*1969).
