Watching all three in a row, I think the first one is the most fun, but my favorite and the clear "best picture" for me is Dark of the Moon". Larger than life action, amazing 3d visuals, and a great story that you can actually sink your teeth into. The entire cast and crew totally outdid themselves and I think this film really brought the series to a whole new level in storytelling.
I find myself quite interested in whats going on in this film, aside from just big robots battling it out, it has a great premise and seeing the decepticans actually coming close to succeeding was very thrilling!! I was in awe for the entire running time and when it ended, I had that "wow, I survived" kinda feeling. Only the best films bring that out in me and I have to say, Bay's direction was phenominal!! I liked Steve's score alot more in this film too, a lil more epic sounding than the semi-cheesy hard rock ballads that the first film had in abundance.
Hmm, what else? I think the replacement "babe" was good eye candy, though I do wish it had Megan Fox. She was great in the last two btu it wasnt that much of a deal breaker. Im glad the majority of supporting cast memebrs came back and this film series as a whole is fantastic!! I loved how much they brought up things from the past and tied it all together, even bringing up many elements of two when alot of times, when a film isnt well received, they kinda dismiss it alltogether.
Bay has one hell of a feather in his cap and Ill be looking for more great things to come. SO for me, with its mroe serious tone, epic story and visuals, and an extrememly pleasing cast and crew, Transformers Dark of the Moon gets the coveted 10 out of 10 from this guy! How about you?
And where is the Batman? He's at home...washing his tights!!
It isn't hated. Haters just scream louder. Look at the numbers. As they say, numbers never lie. Just because a bunch of mindless bots from here complain, it wont change the fact that it is was a huge success. I for one thought it very good.
Never interrupt silence unless you're going to improve it
I thought this was a great movie too. And a HUGE improvement over the incredibly awful Revenge of the Fallen. There was an actual effort with the story and there's some good action and tension in the film. I also loved the scene where Sam said goodbye to the Autobots, and when they came back to save the world from the Decepticons. I loved how the stakes were raised and I was actually engrossed with what was happening too.
I think people cannot get pass their hatred of Michael Bay. Sure he's made some trashy movies, but he still makes entertaining trash. He's made some decent films and a lot of my guilty pleasures. I can't see why a Transformers 4 is needed though, since I felt this one had some sense of closure to it.
Also, am I the only one who likes the girl that replaced Megan Fox? I felt she was a better actress and somehow I couldn't buy that Mikeala/Megan actually liked Sam, unlike Rosie.
But overall, I think this was every bit as awesome as the first film, probably even more so.
Since you don't understand the hate, allow me to explain why I gave this a 1/10, and would have given it a -13 if that was possible. This movie is arguably the most incomprehensible film I've ever seen. And I've seen Alone in the Dark, The Room, Birdemic, Highlander 2, Zardoz, etc. And I'm not replaying to this to troll anyone--let's just get that out there right now before the mindless peons who don't know how to politely debate come out of the woodwork.
I won't even get into the awful first and second movies. I'll focus solely on this one. Here is my list of problems with this movie:
1.) First and foremost, Sam Witwicky saved the world (for a second time) and received a hero medal from Obama, but no one knows who he is??? He would be on a different talk show every single day for the rest of his life. He wouldn't be able to go outside to get his mail without dozens of people running up to him and thanking him or wanting an autograph or something. Despite this, he can't get a job anywhere??? And then, Patrick Dempsey puts in a good word for him to get...a mail room job? At another company? Why didn't he just get him a job at Accuretta, where HE WORKS??? Surely, he was trying to keep tabs on Sam for his grand plan later, right? And overall, Sam is so damned insufferable, I wanted Starscream or Megatron or Sentinel or Itchy or Sweet Tooth or Earthworm Jim to just blow the little peon's head off.
2.) So, Patrick Dempsey was in cahoots with the Decepticons all along, huh? Why didn't he (or his predecessors from 1970 onward) ever come to the aid of Megatron or the Fallen in the previous movies? It would have at least given the useless human soldiers (who do virtually nothing this whole series) someone to fight.
3.) Optimus Prime is once again a careless and sadistic murderer. He flat out KILLS Megatron even after Megatron saved his life. He then walks over to his former mentor who is barely alive and shoots him in the face to finish him off, despite the fact that Sentinel was begging for his life and remorseful for his actions. And before any of this, he allows the Decepticons to conquer Earth and kill who knows how many people for a ruse he doesn't even utilize! Wow. Your wonderful hero of freedom, ladies and gentlemen.
4.) Sam Witwicky not only has killed Megatron, but he also kills Starscream in this one. So, let's recap all the things Starscream did in this trilogy--he shoots at the streets in the final battle of the first movie and flies into space after Megatron is b****ed out by Sam. He does absolutely nothing in the second movie. And in the third movie, he shoots down the Autobots rocket (that didn't have them in it) and gets his eye rips out and his head blown off by Sam.
5.) Michael Bay tried to leech off the popularity of Star Trek by having the Leonard Nimoy-voiced Sentinel quote "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." Not only is it an insult to Star Trek fans, but in the context it was used in this film, it makes absolutely ZERO sense. Sentinel had the Decepticons murder thousands (maybe millions?) of human beings to try to make a home for a few thousand robots. Quoting that line there makes as much sense as Jimmy Cuervo quoting "The Raven" in The Crow: Wicked Prayer".
6.) You do not get rich from writing ONE conspiracy book. It does not happen. And how was Simmons allowed to write this book in the first place? Wouldn't NEST or some other wing of the government be keeping stricter tabs on him than almost anyone in the country, given his former status?
7.) The guards at NEST don't know who Sam is? Okay, even if I turn myself gullible and buy the nonsense that the human race doesn't know who Sam is...how the hell do the NEST guys not know who he is???
8.) Why haven't we heard of Charlotte Mearing before now? If she is the big ma'am in charge and has to okay every single thing these idiots at NEST or any other government agency do, then why have we not heard of her up to this point?
9.) So, if Sentinel Prime was supposed to rendezvous with Megatron on Earth or the moon, then how and when did Megatron become subservient to The Fallen?
10.) Speaking of which, considering that Sentinel and Megatron were the leaders of their respective factions, then why did they have to meet secretly in order to end the war on Cybertron? They have power over everyone there. How hard is it to say, "TROOPS! STAND DOWN!"?? War over!
11.) Who shot at Sentinel's rocket in the beginning? This was after he had defected to the Decepticons. Wouldn't Megatron have told his troops to let it go? And if the Autobots shot at it, that would mean they already knew he was a traitor.
12.) Cybertron is being brought into our atmosphere...because??? And Cybertron being that close to Earth would knock the entire planet out of orbit due to the gravitational imbalance. We'd be floating off into space.
13.) The entire last hour of the movie is one gigantic gunfight. Seeing endless gunfire and explosions really gets dull after twenty minutes. Especially when no one involved can act. Or direct. (Hi, Michael Bay!)
I know there are more problems I can't even remember (they probably involve Bill O'Reilly), but yeah--THAT is why this movie is so awful. In my opinion.
Im only gonna reply to the Violent Optimus hing because I disagree with you 100%...
Optimus was PISSED! Ok? He has lost many he cares about and failed at protecting a city of ppl. He was pissed. OH, and Sentinel KILLED Optimus Prime's best friend IRONHIDE. If someone killed my best friend, begged for mercy as I held him at gunpoint, I would kill him. Just like Prime did! Optimus loved Ironhide like a brother. Thats why he gave sentinel no mercy. Megatron, even if megatron saved Optimus, WHY IN THE HELL WOULDN'T prime kill him? Megatron was the main villain, killer of many cybertronians and personal friends to Prime, and killed many helpless humans. Megatron was a b!tch in Prime's eyes who deserved to be scrapped, prime was sick of war, sick of loosing loved ones. Prime was sad about Megatron dying in the first film, but the second and third he was down right PISSED! And I loved Optimus when he was pissed! So there is your logical explanation for why Prime was a dang assassin in this movie near he end!
And before any of this, he allows the Decepticons to conquer Earth and kill who knows how many people for a ruse he doesn't even utilize!
So you see, that's why Optimus fails as a hero in these movies. Not just because of his violent outbursts, but because of his poor decision-making on behalf of the human race.
